Meditations is former US President Bill Clinton's favorite book. This audio consists of a series of personal writings by Marcus Aurelius, Roman Emperor AD 161-180, setting forth his ideas on Stoic philosophy.

Hey! I enjoy listening to all kinds of Audiobooks, but my favourite are Spiritual Novels!
I brought this version because it's super cheap and the narrator has a nice old school accent which I thought would add to the book, but actually, it's almost impossible to understand! I will be returning this book I will buy the actual version with up to date English narration.
"NOT GREGORY HAYES"
Some reviews said this was the Gregory Hayes translation. That's what I wanted, the contemporary, more relatable version.
Instead this is as dense as the King James Bible, full of overly-ornate "thee"s, "thou"s, and overly intricate sentences written more to make the translator feel smart than communicate the essence of Aurelius's work.
I would listen again because I have read this book twice before and each time it remains fresh. And while I consider Peter Batchelor an excellent narrator, this is one of those books that must be studied in print as well as heard to get the maximum benefit.
I was especially impressed this time around with all the parallels to Biblical and especially New Testament/Pauline writings. For a non-Christian stoic who had a most unfavorable view of Christians, the similarity to Christian writings in his Meditations are striking.
"...as translated by Shakespeare"
This translation is, for me, basically worthless. It must have been translated in the 17th century. There was a 9 word sentence that had the words thee, thine, thou, thy and thyself...in a 9 word sentence! Glad it was only 2 dollars I wasted. If you love olde english this might be for you.
