It's an enduring mystery to me that so few of Waugh's books are available in audio, and then only in abridged form. Waugh is the finest writer of intelligent humour in the last century, so this lacuna is all the more puzzling.

I think it was meant to be a comedy. I didn't laugh once. Waste of time and an Audible token. It was also incredibly short.
"An Amazing Barrage of Characters"
Mayall's range of expression and pathos was perfect; no surprise to those familiar with his work.
