Sour and stingy Ebenezer Scrooge has an emotional transformation after the supernatural visits of Jacob Marley and the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Yet to Come. The novella met with instant success and critical acclaim. A Christmas Carol has never been out of print and has been adapted to film, opera, and other media.

I think everyone must have heard or read some version of “A Christmas Carol”, of this much loved Dickens story, it appears to be faithful to Dickens story and I loved the narration by Peter Batchelor, a deep expressive, and mature British voice.
The price of the download is a bargain if you missed the Tom Baker version when it was on the advent offer. A great purchase at Christmas.
I already knew the story but it was told well and performed as you would imagine the characters to be. Its a must read classic.
Dickens, ghosts and a grumpy old man.
Excellently read - suits the text perfectly.
A classic book, beautifully read.A must for everyone's collection and a must read/ listen every Christmas.
The book is short, concise, and more funny than I imagined, having seen films but never read the original. Typical moralistic story of change you ways or else.....
The narration however is not good, sorry to Peter Bachelor. He reads the speaking voices very well, but the rest is monotonously spoken as if reading a bus timetable, thereby losing the meaning of some sentences. I downloaded this version because it was cheap, and I needed to read it for my book group, but if you love the story, I would recommend a different narrator.
"Lovely classic Christmas story, interestingly read"
I love the narrator's interesting reading, for the first minute or two, I was just listening to his voice, and then very quickly I forgot the narrator entirely and simply enjoyed his story! I think that is the mark of an excellent story-teller. I could see all the scenes in my head. I think I'll be listening to this version every Christmas! Thank you so much!
I must admit, I love the part about Tiny Tim the best, and can't ever hear, "God bless us, every one!" without blinking a few tears. Very dear.
He seems to be a born story-teller, he makes the story interesting, with slightly different voices for characters, and reads with enough expression to be interesting but not so much as to be distracting.
Yes, it is 2 hrs and 44 minutes, so it is a long story, but perfect if you're in bed with the flu and don't feel like keeping your eyes open long enough watch TV. You can just close your eyes and enjoy the story.
I felt the sound quality was poor. I had a hard time hearing throughout the story with the volume on all the way.
"A classic, and well read."
The story is well known by most of us and it comes alive in this complete reading.
This was perhaps my favorite audiobook experience. A Christmas Carol is Dickens at his best in showing the evils of woshiping money.
"live, from a tin can"
challenging to listen to. voice over was so overloaded on bass, range was far too low in many parts
"A Christmas Classic"
Mr. Batchelor does a great job narrating the timeless Christmas story of Ebenezer Scrooge and his encounter with four supernatural visitors.
"A Christmas Carol"
Always a good story made better by this narrator. He brings life to the characters.
"Best 2 dollar book on audible"
There are some great less expensive books out there, but none greater than this one.
A tale for all peoples and for all time. Merry Christmas everyone! Ho ho ho!
Fred because as a nephew he never gave up on the idea that his uncle had potential to be good
excellent - it drew me in instantly
Christmas gift of love
I enjoyed the book so much my son and I immediately registered for a "behind the scenes of Christmas Carol" and the truth of Charles Dickens. I learned that the book was written mostly about his family, characters in his life, and his experiences of both poor and wealthy. The book was also published in 6 weeks and sold out in 4 days and next to the Bible it was the 2nd best seller. This story influenced Christmas in England so much that the puritan low of outlawing Christmas was overturned. Loved the story. It's true without a heart change you can never love people and do good works. That heart change comes from Jesus Christ alone.
