What a delight!

I took a huge delight in listening to this book so wonderfully narrated by Martin Jarvis. It sounded like J. would have been talking himself. Sad that it’s finished.

Excellent

I really, really enjoyed this book. I had not really heard of it until I saw it on a funniest book of all time list and thought I would try it. The story with the cheese made me cry with laughter.

The funniest book in the English language

Quite simply wonderful. A fantastic reading of the most delightful of books. I am so sad that it's finished, I shall start it again immediately.

A jolly good story

Martin Jarvis's quality as a narrator enhances the enjoyment of this amusing Victorian tale of three young men's holiday on a boat going down the Thames with asides reflecting on experiences in life.

Hilarious

Great story; excellent narration by Martin Jarvis! Probably appreciated by adults, teenagers don't find it funny at all.

Victorian standup

Spectacular performance by Jarvis. Story is what you might expect. A classic. Irreverent. A little slow in places.

The Story is great, but.....

The story is fantastic. Truly enjoyable and humorous, however Martin Jarvis I fear, failed to capture the spirit and essence of the story and therefore sadly made it rather tedious.

Grated after a short while.

Became un entertaining after about 15 minutes listening then very annoying. A short while after that it was marked for the bin. There aren’t many books I dump so early on but this was up there.

A book for its time most probably. That is, kept middle class Hooray Henries of the 1900’s.
