A lot of the content is fascinating and thought-provoking.
However, the narrator sets my teeth on edge with her patronising tone and does a rubbish job of differentiating when she's reading quotations. She also barely attempts to give the characters within those quotations distinct voices.
"Not what I expected."
To be fair, this may just be that I had expected a book that gave me another perspective on the Potter series and this was not it. As a result, my expectations may have been wrong.
It's a philosophical work and it's heavy. Not being a philosopher, it's hard for me to rate it as such a work. In the book, various writers write essays about a philosophical take on various aspects of Potter stories, such as examination of the nature of a soul in the Potter universe.
If you are into philosophy, then the book is for you. If like me, you're just hooked on Harry Potter and can't get enough of it, it's the wrong book.
"The Perfect Love Child of Potter and Philosophy"
This is such an interesting read/ listen for those who enjoy the intricate workings of the Harry Potter universe as well as the complex subject of philosophy and the many different of schools of thought within the subject. I would listen to this over and over again because it is genuinely interesting and original. I also love that is a collaboration piece and you are able to enjoy the thoughts of a few different authors making this book diverse and challenging.
The content in this book was awesome, although sometimes a little repetitive since it is a collection of different authors. If you love the Harry Potter series, and love to learn (particularly if you are a Ravenclaw, like me) you will enjoy this. My favorite chapter was the chapter on feminism.
The narrator had great voices when it came to reading character dialogue, however her tone tended to be pretty monotone and repetitive with everything else.
I enjoyed the arguments put forth by this book. I thought most of it was insightful and on point. My only, vain, complaint is that the narrator said some of the names in a way to which I'm not accustomed.
It does bring up some interesting points, but it begins to feel repetitive and drone on.
She has a pleasant voice to listen to, I've definitely heard worst narrators.
No, there is no way this would be made into a movie.
Even for a true Harry Potter fan, this was a hard read. I just don't know if it was worth it.
"Potter for potter heads"
Great listen for all potter heads alike. Interesting in depth look into the inner workings of characters, stories and meaning.
An intellectual feast for those hungry for more Harry Potter, especially if you enjoy thinking about the deeper themes :)
"a wonderful philosophical view on the saga."
I learned a great deal about life and death and leading a morally sound judgment through the magnificent books by jk Rowling
"Hard to get into"
I love anything harry potter. This one was a little tough. I enjoy the .. and philosophy books but this one was a little much.
This book adds a whole new dimension to the Series. Although I've read it twice, it inspired me to go back and read it again with a new perspective.
