Summary

One night there was a thunderstorm. A tattered scarecrow stood in the wind and rain, taking no notice ... until a bolt of lightning struck his turnip head. The scarecrow blinked with surprise and came to life. So begins the story of the Scarecrow, a courteous but pea-brained fellow with grand ideas.

He meets a boy, Jack, who becomes his faithful servant, and they set out to journey to Spring Valley together. Along the way there's no end of excitement - battle and shipwreck, brigands and tricksters - and it's up to Jack time after time to save the day.

Captivating Storytelling

Anton Lesser is a captivating storyteller. He is exceptionally popular, and I loved how he made the different tones, voice and accents for different characters. This story and narrating, both deserves a 5star rating. Jack and the scarecrow are best friends and companions. The story is gripping and heartwarming. 👍

Best book

This book is fantastic and there is nothing wrong to say about the book. The performance was clear also easy to understand and it brought character to this book. I would recommend this book for children but really to anyone who likes made up story's with adventure and talking animals stuff what is not reel. Best book I have ever read/heard and would read/hear it again 📚😃👍

Fabulous in every way

I’ve loved the print version since I first read it. A quirky, clever story performed perfectly by Anton Lesser. Some of Pullman’s stories for children are scary, this is not. Highly recommended
