Janner Wingfeather's father was the High King of Anniera. But his father is gone. The kingdom has fallen. The royal family is on the run, and the Fang armies of Gnag the Nameless are close behind.
Janner and his family hope to find refuge in the last safe place in the world: the Green Hollows - a land of warriors feared even by Fangs of Dang. But there's a big problem. Janner's little brother - heir to the throne of Anniera - has grown a tail. And gray fur. Not to mention two pointed ears and long, dangerous fangs. To the suspicious folk of the Green Hollows, he looks like a monster. But Janner knows better. His brother isn't as scary as he looks. He's perfectly harmless. Or is he?
Join the Wingfeathers on an adventure filled with mystery, betrayal, and sneakery in a land of tasty fruits. There's a monster on the loose, and the truth lurks in the shadows.

I loved the first two books in this series, so I was really excited to see books three and four were available. But something's very wrong. Peter Sanderson, who narrated the first two books, was quirky but quickly became a part of the story. The author has taken over the narration and suddenly several of the characters have strange not-quite-Irish accents, which I find very distracting. But more than that, the poetry in the words, which made the first two books so lyrical, has gone. I'm only about half way through and still hoping the original world, so beautifully created, is still there, somewhere...
enjoyed gentleman who narrated the first two books better, but Andrew Peterson grew on me. the story is great, but perhaps a tad dark for young listeners. looking forward to the movie.
"Like the story, NOT the narration"
Not the audible book. The narration is so bad that even when you listen and don't do anything else, the characters run together. The author/narrator doesn't even bother to continue the same cadence or voice characteristics as the previous narrator. This is an enjoyable series, but the narration sabotages the momentum and characters.
This book as well as the previous 2 in the Wingfeather Saga are incredible! I have no other words. Each one has left me in tears. Bravo Mr. Peterson, Bravo!
could not put it down!!! This book is amazing. I love these books, there super amazing!!!
"Best so far!"
I am in my thirties and have once again fallen in love with a fairytale - a fairytale that speaks truth into the hearts of those who read its pages.
Absolutely beautiful. I plan to buy these books for the kids in my life.
"3rd is even better"
At first I was a bit taken aback that the narrator from the first two books wasn't reading the third, but I loved the fact that it was the author reading it. Though it took me a bit to adjust to different pronunciations, I knew he'd read the book just the way he wanted it heard.
I loved the first two books in this saga, but this was my far and away favorite. Actually, it's climbed it's way into my favorites of all time list. Absolutely gripping. My kids are 9,7,6&5. They are just shy of being old enough for the intensity of these books, but I know they will be heard, read and treasured in our family for years to come.
"Just keeps getting better"
The plot thickens and I couldn't stop listening! The story line of all the characters come together perfectly. I should go to bed but in downloading the next book , yes it is that good.
Praise God for this book! It was so good. So much life in the characters and storyline. Praise God. I can't wait to hear the last book!
Mr Peterson's Wingfeather series is truly a masterpiece! A solid 5 stars by me and my daughter who is 11 and can't put the books down! You will find forgiveness and love in this series along with the truth that there is evil and a 1 true Maker! You will see forgives and repentance as well. Beautiful!
"One of the best books I've ever enjoyed."
My daughter kept after me for a couple years to read the Wingfeather Saga, and thanks to Audible, it's happening. The first book was good. The second book was great... and this one was phenomenal. I can't wait for my drive home to start the fourth, and sadly, final volume, and I hope for really bad traffic so I'll have more time with Mr. Peterson and the Wingfeathers.
