Summary

Here's a fantastic ghost adventure story, laced with menace and humour.

When a baby escapes a murderer intent on killing the entire family, who would have thought it would find safety and security in the local graveyard?

Brought up by the resident ghosts, ghouls and spectres, Bod has an eccentric childhood learning about life from the dead. But for Bod there is also the danger of the murderer still looking for him - after all, he is the last remaining member of the family.

A stunningly original novel deftly constructed over eight chapters, featuring every second year of Bod's life, from babyhood to adolescence. Will Bod survive to be a man?

A brilliant adult bedtime story.

I loved this book and could not stop listening to it. Neil Gaiman makes an excellent narrator of his own tale.

it's pretty much gothic Tarzan.

Neil Gaiman is a great narrator. I hope to see a continuation of some sort in future.

I wanted it to last forever

If you have pre teens, young teens, sulky teens, young adults, old parents....living with you together...and you are looking for something for everyone...this is it! A holiday wonder! And of course, what a treat, Neil himself as our narrator. Wow, just wow!

Wonderful, intriguing, surprising. A DELIGHT!

Trying to explain this wonderful read to anyone is impossible, it sounds bizaar if not slightly disturbing, but it's delightful and entirely believable! I have a wonderful image of all of the characters and of course the little graveyard in my head, a joy to read and narrated perfectly by Neil Gaimen himself.
