"Narrator Changed Voices from book 1 to this"
I was disappointed that the narrator changed the voice of Mr. Lemoncello significantly, to where in the first book he sounded like an eccentric, this book he sounded much more foolish and bumbling. I never got used to the new voice, unfortunately, throughout the performance.
"Not as good as the first..."
First, what happened to the voice of Mr. Lemoncello?? In this sequel, the narrator/reader chose to do away with his (stereotyped) Italian accent, and instead Mr. Lemoncello sounds more like Barney. We had to abandon listening halfway through chapter 5, as soon as Mr. Limoncello makes his appearance.
We have warm memories of the characters from this first book, having enjoyed it both as an audiobook and book. But in this book, the plot devices were telegraphed from the beginning, the characters cliched (especially the Chiltontons), leaving nothing compelling to advance the story.
"This is the best book ever"
I can't believe that this book is better then the first one
I love it!!!!!!!!!!!
"Mr. Grabenstein does it again!?"
who says sequels aren't just as good as the first book. This one was a great! Well worth the wait.
"This is a great book."
I loved this book. I would recommend it to everyone. I would recommend that they would read or listen to escape from mr. Lemoncello's library before this book.
"Great fun for all ages"
Well written, gives kids some knowledge, makes them think, laugh and is easy to enjoy.
I think it's the same narrator from Percy Jackson book. Didn't love him with that one but he does a great job with this one.
"a decent sequel"
As a sequel to a great book, this book had a steep hurdle to overcome out of the gate. The book holds its own, but is not as good as the first, and of course, is a little repetitive. Some of the strongest children characters return, along with, of course, Mr. Lemoncello. The plot has expanded to create a literary challenge for the nation, which was clever. The book was enjoyable but as I said, not as enjoyable as the first. I hope that Mr. Grabenstein turns his clear talent to other story lines as this one looks pretty well explored.
"great roadtrip listen for my ages 15, 13, 11, 8, 7"
great sequel and super fun to listen to as a family. good for action, mystery and competition.
A great followup to the Library Olympics. Keeps up the zany feel of the first, yet stays original.
Not only were there balloons, but also plot twists, and banana shoes. The engineer as hero was a nice touch.
Jesse Bernstein brought good performance, however after the amazing performance he brought to the library olympics, this was something of a disappointment. Many of the characters had different voices this time around, and some of the joy was missing from Mr Limoncello. That said, had we listened to this first I would have had no complaints.
"Great book for everyone"
A great book for kids, this book is a great sequel to Mr. Lemoncelo's Library
