Zany animals of all species run through these fractured tales with alarming speed and dexterity. Who would have thought that the ageless, exquisite Cinderella could be recast as the silly story of an enormous yet lovable elephant who plods along to the ball with glass pie plates on her feet; or that Sleeping Beauty, that most regal of all fairy tales, could be twisted into the story of a frog with a most unusual and promising dance career? Get ready to meet a gorilla queen and a psycho chimp, seven giant giraffes, and one very bad walrus.

"A delightful collection." (Booklist)
"Maguire raises fractured fairy tales to a new level of silliness in this laugh-out-loud collection." (Publishers Weekly)
"In his first narration of his own work, Gregory Maguire whips up an array of clever voices for the cast of creatures in Leaping Beauty....Maguire thoroughly enjoys himself on this collection as he plays for laughs. His timing and character voices are pitch-perfect for the text." (AudioFile)

"Wonderful and fun"
Our whole family loved this book. We have now adopted some of the expressions, "So What". The only negative is that the book ended.
"Take the Leap"
Leaping Beauty is a great collection of fun stories for kids and adults. The best part is that it is read by the author. Each story lights up with charm and humor. Go for it.
This is a lovely collection of stories. They're all so witty....it was an absolute hoot to listen to. I don't know how many times I had to stop myself from blurting out "HA!" at the gym or on the bus...
Having read many of Maguires other books I was delighted to see this offered on Audibles. Fun, entertaining and wildy creative. Maguires books always have a different twist or perspective on familiar tales that make them fun for those adults who miss their childhood story days.
"It's not great"
It's more of a children story book with animals the roles of humans. But it's dus have some interesting turn I'm each story.
I thought the stories were imaginative and amusing. However, I did not like the narrator. I think some authors should leave the narration to the professionals.
