Yes martin Jarvis reads it perfectly and just William is a classic just loved
Martin jarvis's reading is perfect makes William come alive
He makes u feel u are in the book and also brings out each character to a point that u forget there is only one reader and not a cased
There were many moments
Just keep Martin Jarvis reading and just William alive for all of us
I liked this story because it is a boy who lives like us but in the olden times. William is a very mischievous boy who likes to make trouble somewhere. Although he is very mischievous, he is a very creative as he built his own den I the garden. He has and older brother and sister who are selfish and always show no respect for William. I would recommend this to children under thirteen because as you grow you become a teenager and I think they will grow out of that. I liked this audible book because it actually makes you feel like you are in there. Sometimes it makes you feel like it is you when you think you are in there. At our house it is a popular story as we listen to utmost of the tim
I would recommend this book to anyone, no matter how old or young. There is some marvellously jazzy music to introduce the story, and the way Martin Jarvis reads is fabulous- really soothing if you like to listen at night, and full of expression. His William voice is great! Seriously, one click- BUY IT!! 😄
And I really enjoyed catching up with an old friend that I met in the eighties.
The Just William stories are a treat. I used to look forward to the Radio 4 broadcasts during the Christmas holidays and was so pleased to find the Martin Jarvis recordings had been released via Audible. They're just as good as I remember them being and Martin Jarvis really is the voice of William as far as I'm concerned.
Love this book William was so naughty it makes me laugh out loud at what he got up to. Read very well. It is a timeless listen as it's just so easy to listen to you feel drawn into his antics even though I would never have dared get up to the things he did. To
William and Micky who just had me in stitches
I haven't listened to any other ones but do intend to buy more
It made me laugh and cry throughly enjoyed this book
Undoubtedly a classic to an older generation. Teach it to our children and they may love it as we old and young adults do. The
stories are brilliantly told by Martin Jarvis. He was born to bring William and the Outlaws to life.
Perhaps the story, with Martin Jarvis to tell it, might ween our children from their games machines!
It must be over 50 years since I read a William book. But despite this being a children's title, it was amusing and evocative.
So many made me chuckle
He's easy on the ear and brings the text to life.
Everyone's favourite schoolboy
Just timeless storytelling. Gentle, humorous, William is mischievous but never bad.
Yes I would listen again and have.
It is wonderful.
No that is the glory of short stories.
William, the rascally English boy, is at it again. Richmal Crompton has written some delightful stories, but Martin Jarvis, an excellent narrator, has turned them into classics with his wonderful performance. These stories are not written for young children. My high school children and I delight in listening to the William stories.
"Wonderful story, beautifully read."
Absolutely. The whole family listened to Just William stories on a very lengthy car trip (15 hours drive). The time passed quickly, with my 7 year old boys, my mother-in-law, myself and my husband entranced by the stories. We roared with laughter at Williams antics and at times the car literally shook with laughter.
The stories are so simple and yet extremely clever and the reading is wonderful. My husband still repeats some of the phrases sometimes: "I'm just bein' plite" says my husband in his best William voice when he does something especially annoying...
Every story was just so wonderful it's hard to pick a favourite moment. I'd say my best memory was looking around at the faces of my family, the seven year old boys and their grandmother sitting togethor, eyes bright with joy, at one, roaring with laughter.
Laugh, and laugh and laugh some more. At one point, we were rolling around the floor (in the Shakespeare story) weak with laughter. The boys didn't get all of it, but they did get the 'ham and eggs and bacon' jokes.
You will love, love, love these stories. I have already told my mother off for not giving them to me as a child. But I can still enjoy them now!!
"Be Prepared to Laugh - Lots!"
We enjoyed this on holiday, as a family,.
We had to pause the story a time or two as the adults were in fits of laughter and the story could no longer be heard. ☺
I think this would be our favourite Just William audio, thanks mostly to the excellent narration by Martin Jarvis - that man is an artist!
"Not for us"
We thought this would be an intereseting series The stories have a little rascals in England twist to them but the story lines did not captivate my 7yr old son's attention and he was lost in all of the english phrases.
