Summary
Brought to you by Puffin.
Daisy Wells and Hazel Wong have returned to Deepdean for a new school term, but nothing is the same. There's a new Head Girl, Elizabeth Hurst, and a team of Prefects - and these bullying Big Girls are certainly not good eggs.
Then, after the fireworks display on Bonfire Night, Elizabeth is found - murdered.
Many girls at Deepdean had reason to hate Elizabeth, but who might have committed such foul play? Could the murder be linked to the secrets and scandals, scribbled on scraps of paper, that are suddenly appearing around the school? And with their own friendship falling to pieces, how will Daisy and Hazel solve this mystery?

6 stars out of 5
I love this book. Some people say in their reviews "suitable for ages 6-12" or something. I say ' suitable for as soon as you learn to read-1000 years old'. In case you want to know though I am nearly 16.

Murdered by Narrator.
Up till now this series has been brilliant, at the end of each book I couldn't wait to get the next one. With this new narrator I couldn't wait for it to end, in fact I almost gave up but held on in the hopes she'd get better. She didn't.
I hadn't realised how good Gemma Chan was until her replacement demonstrated how not to read a book. This series had loads of great characters, full of life and varied accents, this book had loads of indefinable characters with the same feeble, whinging, monotonous drawl. If this had been shoved in front of an unsuspecting teenager with the instructions "read this and sound bored" it would have been ten times more animated, instead of memoirs from a deathbed.
Sadly all the books following this have Katie Leung narrating. Why? Please redo them with someone who at least sounds interested in the story, or life, or anything! This is the audible equivalent of watching paint dry.
There's also a few repeated lines and glitches in there, I'm not surprised, the editor probably stopped listening too.

A great children's book
All books in this series are loved by my children (and my husband). This was no exception. The characters are believable and likeable. We always fail to work out 'whodunnit' although I had more idea in this one than most. A good read.

One of the best mysteries I’ve heard
This book was amazing. I read it when it came out and Katie Leung reads so masterfully that she makes you feel like you are in the story. 10/10.

New narrator same great stories
I enjoyed Gemma Chan's narration for it's upbeat "jolly hockey sticks" feel, where Katie Leung's performance has a sweeter more naive quality. Both are great and really suit the stories. I look forward to more.

Death by dialogue
I was really looking forward to getting this book. I loved the previous three. Katie Leung just sounds really bored. It is so disappointing that all the other books have her. Please can someone redo them with Gemma Chan, because she was so much better. The actual book was brilliant, but Katie Leung is just…
