In Growing Gold, a wise mother tricks her sons into learning the value of work. Warmly narrated by author and voice performer T.V. Padma, this traditional story from India depicts three boys who aren't interested in working on the family farm; instead, they spend all their time dreaming of gold. But when their mother suggests that gold is buried in the field, they have a change of heart. Throughout this short story, Padma brings a sly wisdom to the words of the mother, and an excited enthusiasm to the boys as they discover a new kind of riches.
Summary
In this story from India, a farmer's three lazy sons don't want to work. They sit around dreaming of making a lot of gold. When their mother tells them of gold buried in a field, they ask her how to bring the gold to the surface. Through clever suggestions, their mother explains how to thed the fields as they discover the true riches offered by hard work. Illustrated by Tom Wrenn.
