Diamond wasn't always a star. Born to penniless parents who longed for a strong, healthy son, she was a dainty, delicate daughter - and a bitter disappointment.
Discovering she has an extraordinary gift for acrobatics, Diamond uses her talent to earn a few pennies, but brings shame on her family. Then a mysterious, cruel-eyed stranger spots her performing, and makes a deal with her father. Diamond is sold for five guineas, and is taken to become an acrobat at Tanglefield's Travelling Circus.
The crowds adore Diamond, but life behind the velvet curtains is far from glamorous. Her wicked master forces Diamond to attempt ever more daring and dangerous tricks, until she is terrified to step into the ring. But there are true friends to be found at the circus, too.

I liked it when she became a circus girl and could learn backflips I disliked it when the monkey ran up the tree and diamond risked it and climbed up and helped the monkey and nearly fell off ( I liked it when she saved him or her though)I think my children would love this book because it is calm and soothes you wen your upset or angry or hurt SO THANKYOU WHO WROTE THIS BOOK I TRULY LOVE LOVE LOVED IT THANKYOU go and THANKYOU
I think that diamond is a great book. I listen to Diamond in bed and it helps me get to sleep because there's always something interesting next and I never get board. My fav part is when Addy is washing diamond with the Rainbow bubbles. My least fav part was when diamond was taken away from her home. Over all I think this is a great book.
We have loved listening to the Hetty Feather series... Diamond was as good as Hetty feather, Sapphire battersy, and Emerald star. There's got to be one more still left, surely!
