Publisher's Summary

Alice was beginning to get very tired of sitting by her sister on the river bank, and of having nothing to do...when suddenly a White Rabbit with pink eyes ran by her. Alice did not think it so very strange to hear the Rabbit say to itself, "Oh dear! Oh dear! I shall be too late!" But when the Rabbit actually took a watch out of its waistcoat pocket and then hurried on, she started to wonder! Running after the strange fellow, she was just in time to see it pop down a large rabbit-hole. Down jumped Alice after it (never considering how in the world she was to get out again) and she tumbled into a curious world inhabited by the Mad Hatter, the Ugly Duchess, the Mock Turtle, the Cheshire Cat, and more...

With his marvelous sense of the absurd, Lewis Carroll's whimsical, fantastical tale delighted children and adults when it was first published in 1865 and has since become a treasured classic of literature.

"Don't you just LOVE Jim Dale!"

This classic children's tale with its quirky characters and imaginative action is brought to life by the absolute genius of Jim Dale's narration. I honestly think the man could make a mathematics textbook sound exciting!

    Story
    "I wish I could give Jim Dale a 10!"

I'v read this story many times but when I saw that Jim Dale was narrating it I just had to buy it and listen. It was worth every penny and minute. Though the story is one of my favorites from childhood, listening to him read the story was a whole new experience. He is quite simply astonishing. Like he did in his narration of the Harry Potter books, he uses so many unique and wonderful voices that you know which character is which without being told. If you already love this book, you'll love it even more hearing him read it and if you do not know the story you are in for an incredible treat.

    Story
    "Alice is a gem!"
Would you consider the audio edition of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland to be better than the print version?

Can't say, because the drawings in the print version have always meant so much to me. I did like the audible version and was able to listen all the way in one sitting, so that was an improvement for me. Loved them both in different ways.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland?

I love the poems and the Mad Tea Party the best!

Which character – as performed by Jim Dale – was your favorite?

The Mad Duchess was hilarious, as were several others including the White Rabbit and the March Hare.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

    Off with their heads!

    Any additional comments?

I think everyone is familiar with the story. My only comment is I missed Alice being read by a woman with a British accent. Mr. Dale was fine for all the other characters though!

    Story
"The story wouldn't be what you've expected"

I read this Alice story as a shortened book for children published by Walt Disney. Because as a child my favorite book was Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, I wanted to read the original story and see what it's like. If that is your reason for getting this title as well, I guess you'll find this original, unabridged version somewhat different from your expectation.

The story is not so simple. I got the impression that Alice's adventures are a little bit meadering. There's no connection between what happens to Alice in the wonderland. Well, you may think that that's the point of this book. Why else it would be called "wonderland?"

Jim Dale's excellent performance is shown in some parts where the narrator has to sing. If a less capable person had done the narration, it would have been really awkward.

If not the story, Jim's great voice acting will be worth listening to this book.

Jim dales makes this insanely confusing story make more sense then when I actually tried reading it. I love his performance but the story just too weird for me. I know it is a classic and I really tried to love it but I just couldnt.

    Story
"A classic that has lost some of its original charm"

I think I might better appreciate this classic if I were more knowledgeable about the schooling of children in 1870's England. it's a whimsical tale that goes so off the rails for such long periods that I find myself unable to relate to it at times.
