The journey from being a "no-name" artist to finding your voice in the world of comics has always been a mystery - especially in the Internet age. While the publishing industry struggles to adapt to the rapidly changing digital world, independent artists now have the ability to build a successful and lucrative brand completely on their own with a little hard work and some Internet savvy.
Now there's nothing stopping you from getting your book in front of thousands or even millions of people. Suddenly you can't blame anyone for not giving you a chance. You can only blame yourself for not trying. So roll up your sleeves, sharpen your pencils and fire up your Internet because we are about to make and sell comics!
Jason Brubaker's graphic novel reMIND raised over $175,000 in pre-order sales on Kickstarter, won the Xeric Award, and made ALA's Great Graphic Novels for Teens List. This book is a collection of his thoughts, strategies, and practical lessons developed during his experience writing, drawing, and self-publishing reMIND.

"Thank you Jason Brubaker."
I've just finished "unnatural Talent" and it is filled with all the information I've been searching for to become a "successful"artist. And when I say "successful", I don't mean the art aspect of artist, I mean the business side of being an artist. Generating income streams! For so long, I've been stuck doing jobs I hate, so I can pay the mortgage and feed my family.
After this review, I'm going to Amazon to order the print version of this book to use as reference on a weekly basis. If you're an artist trying to figure out how to make money doing the thing you love. The thing you FEEL you were meant to be doing, this should be the first book you read.
Thanks again Mr.Brubaker!
This book collects tons and tons of great info on the do's, do nots, and how to's of creating and self publishing a graphic novel, and how to potentially make a living doing it. I recommend this to anyone who wants to self publish their own comics!
If you're considering writing a graphic novel or any type of book definitely listen to Unnatural Talent. If nothing else it will inspire you to get up and go do it!
"Vivacious and Inspiring!"
I think both would be awesome to have, some of the charts and art Jason referenced in the book would've been nice to see.
The author of course! Jason Brubaker!
His own voice and reactions. Had I read it in my own head I wouldn't have imagined the high pitched voices he dramatized, nor the robotic sound bits during the Kickstarter confusion voice.
There is no secret ingredient.
Jason you really set a fire under my seat! Super excited to get started and illustrate my stories!
"Great resource on making comic"
So much insight, tips and overall just inspiring.
Made me pick up my pencil and get to work.
"a must buy for anyone interested self publishing"
very informational and inspiring. well worth your time and money if you're interested on the subject of webcomic, graphic novel and self publishing
"Very annoying way of reading"
Horrible, I'm sure it has interesting ideas but can't get through the crazy/dumb voices. Speak normally please... Also, want my money back...
