This is my 5 question system for appraising business and management books. It isn't perfect but it works for me, I hope you find it useful...
Have I incorporated in my business or how I run my business any learnings from this book? Yes.Did feel I wa nted to understand really understand the book in depth, make notes and apply the content? Yes.Is it a book I’ve gone back to in order to check I really get the ideas and concepts so I can apply them? Yes.Is it a book I keep to hand on my mobile, where space is at a premium, so I can re-listen as and when? Yes.Finally, is it a book that has brought insights and moved me forward? Yes.Comments...Stick with it - I found it was literally 2 hrs in before it really got going. I have changed my goal setting system based on insights from this book. The narration is a touch irritating and the "musac" jingle but don't that put you off.
I found the audio edition much more engaging than reading a print version, it kept me interested from start to finish!
They kept me interested and made the stories flow nicely!
It focuses on 'one thing'
Yes. Easy to listen to, although Claire Hamilton's accent is a little too 'Cheesy American' for this Englishman.
Probably not. But possible.
This is a rather shameless duplication and re-hash of 'The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People'. If you have read '7 Habits' then it's an OK revision of the principles, stated slightly differently. If you haven't. forget this and read '7 Habits of Highly Effective People' by Dr Stephen Covey. It is much better.
They refer to several studies and findings from other books on the same subjects, but in the audiobook they don't refer to the studies or credit other authors. Whereas 'The Power of Habit' by Charles Duhigg addresses this subtopic of the power of Habits in much more detail and complete with properly referenced source material.
Perhaps I should nick a bit from all the authors I have read and re-publish it under a catchy name!
Like many other books, you just need to find that one golden nugget that will make it worth your while. This book has a few hidden treasures inside. Highly recommend it!
My work is to tell people's life stories with images or motion, so they will never forget! I work with clients to deliver the most bespoke,
No words to describe how amazing and life changing this book is ! Worth dozen of listenings
I would say it's one of the best books.
Don't think it's comparable just think the other books are wasted compared to this one.
I felt like this is the only book I ever need to listen to. Simplify everything other books makes complicated
Would listen to this book again and again and again and again.....
"Best towards the end. Overall a great book"
It could have been short. Gets a little monotonous in the middle. The beggining is enlightening ofcourse. It gets really good and inspiring towards the end. I was considering not finishing the book in the middle. But really glad I finished it.
extraordinary achievement that resonates with your inner feelings. it was always one thing and one thing only
I love the book. I finished it in 2 days. What's the one thing I can do to make everything else easier or unnecessary? I probably have to listen to the book on a regular basis when I get lost in the future.
"Really Hit Home"
Sometimes you just need a reminder of what's important in life, work and health. Middle was a bit drawn out but glad I listened to the end.
Excellent book. The kind of book we must make a study of it for the long run.
Breaks down how to simplify to become successful in what ever your endeavours are. Often the answer is right there in front of us but without clarity it just gets overseen.
"A simple but powerful concept/question"
A simple question (The Focusing Question) that once applied to your life has the potential to yield extraordinary results.
"going to improve life"
my one book i got on audible so far, and already glad I got it. not an expert on the subject, but I'm 20 y/o and think this is a must read
I found this book very helpful and have started applying the principles. I highly recommend it to everyone
It breaks down complex systems to simple practices
Realizing I am the limit to my own business
No, Too much depth, It took me a while to digest it all.
I would recommend this book to anyone I would do business with.
