This is a bold book by James Altucher. He not only gives you a new map for the new financial landscape but he also has skin in the game. This is the first financial book in which the author reveals how he makes his own money.
We are living in an epic period of change, danger, and opportunity. The economy is crashing and booming every few years. People are getting fired and replaced by computers and Chinese workers. The stock market crashes with regularity. Every fix from the government makes things worse. The old world has been demolished, and people are desperate for answers.
James Altucher's The Choose Yourself Guide to Wealth contains those answers. This is the field guide to the new world we live in. You can play by the old rules and get left behind, or you can use these new ideas and become wealthy. This is not a book for the faint of heart. Listen at your own risk, because sometimes the truth is hard to take. But for those who are ready to hear, James provides an updated map of the new territory for generating wealth and freedom. This book is the eye opener of the century. It is the guide to building, keeping, and investing your money and breaking free from the chains of rusted, old thinking.

I really liked Choose Yourself (original book) but was sceptical that the wealth guide would give me anything new. I am glad to say I was wrong! Read by James in the same upbeat, anecdotal style, the Choose Yourself Guide to Wealth has a lot of counter-cultural wisdom in it and is detailed enough to be quite practical; for example the Q&A bit about setting up a business. As a teacher and parent, I see my students and my own kids travelling down the same (now broken) path as their parents, as nobody seems to brave enough to tell them that they need to go a different way. Kudos to you James for being brave and shining a light on a new but exciting path to success and (let's hope) happiness.
Some good principles to think about when it comes to Wealth.
Some debatable. In overall, another great book from James Altucher.
Not sure about the combination of James and Claudia, which at points felt unrehearsed.
Other than that, great. Keep doing this James!
"Honest, easy to listen too, and flows nicely!!"
I enjoyed his honesty & openess! I agree, you need to exercise your idea muscles.
Thank you James. Fabulous and uplifting as always. Lots of reminders and inspirations abound in this fun and inspiring audio book. Your honesty is amazingly refreshing :)
"This is not unabridged, and it's full of rambling."
This is labeled as unabridged, and I expected the full content of the book. Instead what I got was a rambling conversation including his wife Claudia. If I wanted to listen to James Altucher's podcast, then I would have done that instead of buying this book.
Read the actual book to the audience. Nothing pissed me off faster than glossing over a section and telling me I need to read the book for the details. I bought this audio book for those details.
"James doesn't hold any punches"
It's not common to come across someone who is willing to share the good, the bad and the ugly of their lives. James does this in a quirky, funny and honest way. He then reviews the lessons learned and provides concrete systems that we can adopt to help us navigate this complex thing we call being an adult as he himself has done to create a balanced purposeful life. Thanks James, big hugs to you bro.
"Great advice! Now to follow through..."
I love James. He is the most authentic self-help guru I've ever heard. I believe he is ahead of the curve on a lot of his advice. Now I'm off to make myself an indispensable idea machine!
"Excellent audio book read by the author Unabridged"
A great read that I would read again. Contains years of knowledge from around the world.
"Best book ibve listened to in a long time!!!"
I like that he read it himself I like that his personality shines through and all the useful information that I will be using and returning to to listen over and over again as I did as I was listening I must've listened to several sections 5 to 10 times to make sure I got the point but I will be going back you should definitely get this book if you're into investing in yourself and working for yourself don't even think twice about it for the price it's less than a meal just do it by now
you'll have to excuse james for his awkward and outlandish views. during this reading he is trying to translate the context of 20 years of experience, in what seems to be the mind of .. someone who's not you.
I know this to be a valuable story but it'll be almost entirely read between the lines. James is not a pioneer, he is the true story of success: hard work, luck, personal, failure, love... its life in a new perspective, but its the same life.
"put a bullet in my ear"
I liked reading the book, but this guy is terrible to listen to, and he's not reading the book, he's rambling on in and out of conversation with his piggy backer wife about the book. I'll stick to reading this one. Would have been great if it had been read by someone who is not James Altucher.
