Publisher's Summary

Imagine a world where almost everyone wakes up inspired to go to work. This is not a crazy, idealised notion. In many successful organisations, great leaders are creating environments in which teams trust each other so deeply that they would put their lives on the line for each other. Yet other teams, no matter what incentives are offered, are doomed to infighting, fragmentation and failure. Why?

Today's workplaces tend to be full of cynicism, paranoia and self-interest. But the best organisations foster trust and cooperation because their leaders build what Sinek calls a Circle of Safety. It separates the security inside the team from the challenges outside. Everyone feels they belong, and all energies are devoted to facing the common enemy and seizing big opportunities.

As in Start with Why, Sinek illustrates his ideas with fascinating true stories, from the military to manufacturing, from government to investment banking. He shows that leaders who are willing to eat last are rewarded with deeply loyal colleagues who will stop at nothing to advance their vision. It's amazing how well it works.

"Not quite start with why, but still good"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, especially anyone who is in a leadership position.

What other book might you compare Leaders Eat Last to, and why?

It goes hand in hand with start with why by the same author.

Which character – as performed by Simon Sinek – was your favourite?

This is non-fiction, so no characters.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

How to be the type of leader you would want to folllow.

    Any additional comments?

Leaders eat last is a very good book and Simon Sinek is a fantastic orator. This one doesn't quite hit the 5 star mark of start with why, but it comes close.

"One of the best books I have read this year"

Against the backdrop of other books I have read recently ('The Prince - Machiavelli, 33 strategies of war - Robert Greene, Meditations- Marcus Aurelius & Ego is the Enemy- Ryan Holiday') this one seemed soft/fluffy/weak but then it got into explorations and extrapolations of the relevance and affects of endorphins, dopamine, serrations, oxytocin and cortisol in business environments.
This is one of the best books I have read recently, you might want to check it out

    "Inspiring truth"

Simon Sinek has an easy listening voice and a memorable storytelling fashion. The stories he tells and the truths he pulls from them inspire me to be a better leader, friend and colleague. The great thing is it's not his new concept! Instead it's the truth about People.

"Wishing I could share this with all company execs"

Simon is a great storyteller, he'll lead you on a journey that will have your learning without you realizing. The use of stories to put across his point means it's easier to deeply internalize the learning and remember it.

I relate to the ideas of this book but it always baffles me why current leaders have have no interest whatsoever on developing other human beings. I wonder if they are also reading some antithesis theory to Simon Sinek

"Moving Beyond Belief - Not just theories, but proof"

As fast as motivational, self development and business books go, I've read pretty much all of them. This book however, was the only one that actually backed up their "theories" with irrefutable scientific proof. A fantastic journey with so many great relevant stories, I truly believe this book contains the thinking and information that will have the greatest impact. Regardless if your reading it for personal or business, it's well worth the listen, and I hope it inspires you as much as it inspired me.
