Summary

This is the first book to present innovation and entrepreneurship as a purposeful and systematic discipline. It clearly explains and analyzes the challenges and opportunities of America's new entrepreneurial economy. Peter Drucker, the most influential and widely-read thinker and writer on modern organizations, gives us a superbly practical book that explains what established businesses, public service institutions, and new ventures have to know, have to learn, and have to do in today's economy and marketplace.

Seminal work in Innovation but awful narration

Have read this classic book a couple of times (albeit ten years ago) before purchasing the audio version. As with other comments the narration is awful and makes Stephen Hawking's speech box sound human! Although it is worth persisting, as with a couple of other reviews would suggest you buy the book for this one. Listening to this has prompted me to re-read and has reminded me how good this book is at providing a systematic approach to innovation and entrepreneurship

Disgraceful production quality

This sounds like it is being read by a robot, the production quality is awful

Read by robots

I’ve heard good things about this book, unfortunately the voice sounds distinctly like it is being read via AI or some other automated reading software- I couldn’t even finish the first chapter. Hugely disappointing.

Eye Opener

Loved the book as lessons from the past seem like deja vu. might need a 2nd round. Reading was a little dry though.

Required reading

When it comes to understanding digitisation and fintech strategy Peter Drucker wrote most of the theories already in the 1980s. This book is up there with the best texts on business theory.

Pronunciations

Some word pronunciations were not very good.
For example: lived, was pronounced as Life-d.
made for some painful listening.

interesting, especially with benefit of hindsight

Interesting assessment of what successful companies are and what will be required to stay successful from a 1980s view point.

Narrator is very fast and difficult to follow.

Expositions

I struggled to finish it but it is the most expository and informative book I have read on business that gave a detailed and wholistic view of the business landscape

Solid innovation management

Essential reading, no fluff, written before the dotcom age - very refreshing to hear examples of low tech innovation but with very sound principal

An excellent history and lessons of innovation

The book does show its age, in a few occasions, however I think it's better for it - we can reflect on it with 20:20 hindsight.
Altogether excellent !
