"Should not be offered in audio format"
This one is probably better read on your kindle. Too many dry facts and instructions. I don't recommend this on audio and wish I bought it in a different format. In terms of the content, there's a huge focus on work (your job). Lots of really good sections you'll probably highlight when you read it, and lots of exercises to work through. Just don't get it on audio.
"Not what I was expecting, but good"
This is a great book–– just not what I was expecting. When I read the title "Go from good to great at work", along with NLP, I mistakenly believed that I was going to receive similar principles as Jim Collins' Good To Great (having literally just finished reading the book)–– except using neurolinguistic programming.
That was interesting enough to entice me to buy the book. I am an entrepreneur and writer, and someone who hates working for others. I can only do that for a limited time. Every time the book mentioned "ask yourself what you can do for your boss", and "you will receive praise from your boss and your peers", I was cringing inside, as those things do not personally motivate me.
That being said, a lot of the principles in this book are important and necessary to learn. I have been exposed to them before through my ample reading –– and this is a great introduction to how to get what you want out of a job and how to succeed. In particular, the chapter about energy stands out as one of my favorites, and I like the exercise of walking through my mind to find what works and what doesn't.
For anyone who literally wants to be excellent at their current job or excellent to merit a better job, this is the book for you.
"one of my favorites"
the story goes beyond just the workplace. it's a great addition for a person's sales knowledge catalog.
if you want NLP go buy another book. this is boring and and a very vague use of nlp
Insultingly bad. Summary of the part I listened to: Have a good attitude.
It doesn't get too much deeper than that.
Stop using NLP as a catch phrase.
