A New York Times best-seller on how women can make it to the top by adopting the new rules of leadership.
Women hold just 11 percent of the most senior-level leadership positions in U.S. Corporations - a number that hasn't changed in over 30 years. How can more women break through? Break Your Own Rules distills the six faulty assumptions (or "rules") most women follow that get in the way, then delivers the correlating new rules that promise to clear a path.
For example, the old rule of "Focus on Others" must be replaced by "Take Center Stage"; "Hard Work Will Get You There" must yield to "Be Politically Savvy". "Play It Safe" must give way to "Play to Win". "Ask Permission" must be replaced by "Proceed Until Apprehended". This book:
This hands-on guide is for women who are ready to transform their assumptions and join the senior ranks of American business.
Foreword by Sharon Allen, Chairman of Deloitte.

Definitely a good purchase. I'm this to my favourites. We women do not speak up enough or feel we are worth of getting what we want. Balanced narration and important content. A good one for the journey.

Stop shying away in the corner!
Great Book and well put. I will listen to this a few times, thank you.
"Provides inspiration and direction to women"
Provides inspiration and direction to women hoping to navigate their careers and life's choices. I enjoyed answering questions in this book about my own performance and behavior. Opened my eyes to areas where I can change and improve. Narration is slightly monotone.
"Great for established career women"
This is a great read no matter what level professional you are currently because it will be relevant one day. But, if you are currently in an entry level position in the beginning of your career you won't be able to connect with most of the advice until you're a bit more seasoned and have advanced to a position of leadership.
