"Great way to prepare for a career change!"
This audiobook provides a good analysis of the current market trends. New generation of workers will need to be more flexible. You will learn why. You will also learn how to prepare for an interview and what are the signs that it is time for a career change. Should you build your professional network or should you get a degree? This audiobook is great for job seekers and current workers too!
"Very informative book!"
I highly recommend, " Becoming Generation Flux." It's a very comprehensive yet concise audiobook on career planning. There are many insights on the data on unemployment and labor trends. I appreciated how the author also gives historical context so that his readers can better understand the influxes of the job market. For example, he explains how machines have dramatically changed the era that we live in and resulted in the decline of white collar jobs. The author mentioned people in my generation (90s kids) and how we are more at risk to lie with our parents. This resonated highly with me. However, I feel better prepared and wiser in my career. This audiobook has definitely given me some useful tips and methods.
The labor market is broken. Boo!
Yes , Cause its a really great book.
Why Traditional Career Planning is Dead: How to be Agile, Adapt to Ambiguity, and Develop Resilience by Miles Anthony Smith is a book about finding a job but that is the most basic of descriptions
Yes i want.
Please listen this book, you must be get great result.
The author, Mr. Smith has done an exceptional job at informing anyone, how to endure the stresses and adapt to a non-traditional career plan. I learned many things that were helpful in getting my new career plan in order. I enjoyed this book, because it was well written and straight forward. It also established that the author is dedicated to assisting recent grads or those in search of a new career path. I highly recommend this book to anyone struggling to get ahead in today's "workforce".
"Hired - Fired - Hired Again. Why?"
Its relevance. -- In the last two years I have been downsized, hired, fired, and ultimately self employed. Then I subsequently hired and fired someone else! The entire business landscape is in a time of flux. This book was spot on with my experiences, but showed that if we navigate properly, we can prosper.
Some of the most memorable moments centered around the feeling of, "OH! So I'm not crazy!" When a career takes a hard left turn, it is easy to feel alone. Well, apparently I'm not! The crazy is normal.
I listened to Miles' "Leadership Sucks" book when it came out. This book resonated more strongly with me because of where I am in life, but I also think it is better written and better narrated.
Miles is a knowledgable author who speaks from experience as well as research. He helped me get my brain around the changeless I just lived through. Now I am more prepared.
"Good book for high school seniors"
I thought this book would have lots of tips for getting ahead at work and advancing your career. It was more of a summary of the recent changes to the economy, education, and job markets. I would have liked more tips for those already happily employed who are looking to get promoted.
I liked all the research that the author did, but the presentation could have been a little less dry, and a little more compelling.
This would be a good book for high school seniors who wanted to become better informed about what they were going to face in college and then later in the job market. This is not such a great book for those who already graduated college and found a job - they already know what the job market is like.
"Well-written and very informative"
The author's writing style. You learned a lot from it, but the reading is not heavy.
When he talked about the many changes in the hiring process.
"Surviving in an ever-changing world."
I did receive this book free for an honest review, which this is. I highly recommend this book to those wanting to understand how to job market is different today than it was a generation or two ago.
"Self help book"
“Becoming Generation Flux” is a good analysis of how education, the workplace and career management are becoming unpredictable. The increasing costs of education and its impact on graduates to how one can no longer count on steady employment with one organization throughout a career, it is clear Miles Smith understands the changing career landscape.This audiobook Iis good for those just beginning to look at a career path and educational choices ;
"A New Way To Believe"
I learn by hearing so the audio version is better for me. I would have the print version as a back up to review the references later.
The belief by my parents of having a good job for a good company for an entire career is now a myth.My generation were taught, believed and were disillusioned when the rules changed.
The author wrote in an entertaining way. The audio version was educational. The chapters were separated in a logical way.
"must read for job seekers"
I received this book free to review. This is a great book to use to tailor job searches and describe the current job market. In this age, you need to be able to handle change and potentially take jobs that will be used as steps. Knowledge gives the advantage and every experience needs to be used as a way to advance and better yourself. Definitely a book anyone entering the job market or looking to get ahead needs to read!
