If you're like many small business owners, the mere mention of the word "accounting" fills you with the same sense of dread you had back in high school the night before a big math test. However, never fear. By the time you've finished Accounting for the Numberphobic, you'll be reading your financial dashboard like a pro. This audiobook takes the terror out of accounting, as it demystifies - in plain English - documents like the Net Income Statement, Cash Flow Statement, and Balance Sheet. An amazing way how to be able to do the business and be ok with the numbers Highly recommended. Thank you.
"Great book for the entrepreneur!"
I was really happy with the information covered on accounting in this book. I've listen to and read several books on the subject to learn about balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow. This book did a good job of introducing the subject in an easy to understand way. You won't be a certified CPA when you finish but you'll be able to have an educated conversation with yours when your done.
"Great Book! Very helpful :)"
Be sure to check out the PDF that comes with the book. Also, be aware that, if you're like me, you may need to hit that rewind button quite a bit. Sometimes it's tough to keep up with the formulas in your head. Still, I'm very glad they turned this into an audiobook.
"Good knowledge to understand"
Currently an accounting student and this has opened up my understanding to the terms in class.
"Best accounting book I have read"
I found it while searching the audible app
The overall clear description of financial statements, break even point and lots of different concepts that many books make overly confusing
Great voice and clear articulation
It should be digested in a few sitting and listened to a few times, as it is equivalent to a graduate level course in accounting
Great book for any and every business owner. This is good for business owners at all levels and great for any one about to enter a MBA program, or graduate business degree
I definitely am numberphobic, so this book appealed to me. I am SO GLAD I got it, and am going to get a hard copy to highlight. It has made a huge difference in my business. Always protect your bottom line. Thank you, Dawn!
Yes, because the book gives the right tools, to understand the jargon of the financial statements and gives good advices for the non accounting professionals.
I loved her voice tone and the reading speed.
Yes it was
Even though i'm an accountant, i chose this book, because i'm a native Spanish speaker and i want to learn the accounting terms and this book fulfills my goal. and gives good advice to all entrepreneur with no financial background.
"Idiots guide to accounting. Exactly what I needed."
loved it everything was in simple language it broke down the entire income statement balance sheet. She gave examples of changes in different aspects of the company's financial statement. I would definitely recommend this to anyone, even someone doing personal financial management.
"Full of insider lingo and specialist terms"
This is not what's promised. The explanations are thorough, (I think because I didn't understand the insider lingo). As a owner of a small construction company, this is still way over my head and I'll have to listen to it another dozen times to make sense out of it. Maybe accounting is never simple. Get a crash course in accounting first and then listen to this book.
"GREAT BOOK FOR SMALL BIZ OWNERS"
Dawn covers a wide range of topics I need to focus on while operting my small business. She clearly defines financial terms & practicesand uses lots of easy-to-understand examples to help her readers (and listeners) grasp semi-complicated bookkeeping terms.
I am generally terrible with numbers and will be seeking a part-time bookkeeper to help me with my earnings and taxes, but this book gives me great advice on what questions to ask a bookkeeper before shelling out my money.
I can now clearly define (and understand) terms such as COGS, gross margin, net margin, EBT, etc. Learning these terms will help small business owners read and understand a financial balance sheet.
She did a great job reading slowly and clearly. Karen's over-all reading voice and tone are easy-going.
I did most of my listening while driving in my car. Several times in the book, the narrator asked the listener to refer to the attached PDF, but I did not find one to download. I contacted the author directly and she emailed me a 25-page PDF. Very helpful to use in conjunction with the audiobook.
This book is fantastic and I will highly recommend it to my friends and colleagues who are business owners and freelancers. I will also be buying the physical book from Amazon to keep on my shelf and refer to in the future.
"Great Book. Very Helpful."
This is a wonderful way to start if you are looking to understand accounting or bookkeeping. It is easy enough to understand without prior knowledge of the industry but goes into depth of the most important aspects of business financial management.
