If you live for people's acceptance, you'll die from their rejection.
Two-time Grammy-winning rap artist, Lecrae, learned this lesson through more than his share of adversity - childhood abuse, drugs and alcoholism, a stint in rehab, an abortion, and an unsuccessful suicide attempt. Along the way, Lecrae attained an unwavering faith in Jesus and began looking to God for affirmation.
Now as a chart-topping industry anomaly, he has learned to ignore the haters and make peace with his craft. The rap artist holds nothing back as he divulges the most sensitive details of his life, answers his critics, shares intimate handwritten journal entries, and powerfully models how to be Christian in a secular age.
This is the story of one man's journey to faith and freedom.

Excellent autobiography written and read by a thoughtful man whose struggles many will identify with.
Audio version gives the advantage of being able to hear Lecrae rap the lyrics at the beginning of each chapter. It's also great to discover the context for some of Lecrae's albums. I look forward to listening to them again with new ears.
I hope Lecrae's story inspires people to discover God's call for their lives and gives them the courage to pursue it.
Thoroughly enjoyed listening to his story!
At times i wanted a bit more depth about how he overcame specific struggles, but he was so honest and bold with everything. Great listen!
A massive blessing listening to this with his struggle and passion for God and the idea of being in this world not just separate a massive challenge! definitely highly recommend!!!
So much transforming truth and transparency was displayed in every word. I feel encouraged, inspired and empowered. Awesome book!!
"Lecrae. ..finding his Truth"
Will Listen again.
Heavy chapter at beginning but keep going.
Lecrae Journey to Balance and to his Truth is powerful.
Many nuggets of wisdom.
This book inspired me to dig even deeper in my faith. I've always struggled with legalism and what it actually means to be saved. Not only did this book give me an idea of what pursuing God looks like, but also inspired me to dig even deeper into the word of God to find the answers to the questions I've been afraid to ask.
"honest, gritty, but not glamorizing"
Lecrae tells his story honestly, but doesn't glamorize his pre-Christian life. Walks through tough issues of drugs, sex, and abortion.
"This made ME LOVE LeCrae!"
The honesty surprised us but is so apprecitaed! We are so appreciative of the real struggle and.hard truth he shared! plus it's totally awesome that LeCrae is the voice!
"Incredible way to spend 5 hours"
I've been a fan of Lecrae since his second album. I came into contact with his music due to going through looking for a father figure through music and used Lil Wayne as a surrogate father. Noticing his bad influence I looked towards Christian rap and Lecrae was used to lead me back to my true father. This audible is incredible I listened within 2 sittings.
"Wow! Beyond expectations!"
This book completely exceeded my expectations. Well written, well performed, and well worth my time.
"It was helpful and interesting"
I love the energy story and message. it was helpful in my personal development. Thanks for putting it out there
Lecrae's album "rebel" helped lead me to Christ. I have always loved rap music and I never new it could have a message other than get money and hoes until I heard Lecrae. He paved a road for people who are putting out positive music that's not "secular" or "Christian" just music that happens to have a message reflecting the values written in the Bible. Chance the Rapper, Kanye, and a lot of other rappers are starting to put out music like this. Thank you Lecrae, not only for making dope music but for having similar struggles to a outcast like me, so God could work in my life through what you've been doing. Keep doing you. And I know God is gonna keep doing Him through your work.
"When art imitates life"
Yes, because you get to hear the inflection from the author. You know what they felt and what was important to them as they wrote.
The passion and the reflectiveness about past actions.
When he talked about going to rehab, as a young, Black man struggling to come to grips with who he is, and who he needed to be.
