Summary

From Geraint Thomas, winner of the 2018 Tour De France.

Like no other cycling book, from no other rider - Britain's cycling star shares his unique take on the world of cycling.

Sit back or saddle up as double Olympic gold medallist and multiple world champion Geraint Thomas gives you a warts and all insight into the life of a pro cyclist. Along the way he reveals cycling's clandestine codes and secret stories, tales from the peloton, the key characters like Wiggins, Hoy and Cav, the pivotal races and essential etiquette.

Geraint Thomas is treasured for treating his sport just as the rest of us see it: not a job but an escape and an adventure. He's been with Team Sky since its inception, and is one of our most successful and gifted track and road riders, but Geraint reminds us that getting on the bike still puts a smile on your face and fire in the legs like nothing else.

Funny, informative, diverting and droll, this is a joyful celebration of the world of cycling.

Just a bunch of anecdotes.

It's a collection of anecdotes that are in no particular order. I was hoping for a more structured autobiography.

The narrator mispronounces some key words which can be quite grinding to listen to.

Collection of notes

Although much of this book provides an interesting insight into pro cycling, there is very little that is revelatory. The book also lacks any narrative, it is more a collection of notes divided into chapters based on subjects

Geraint gives you a great read

Even if you have no idea about the cycling world just reading about the life of a Welsh Olympic champion is very interesting.

Fun, interesting and irreverent look at cycling.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, it's not your typical cycling autobiography. for a start it's not really an autobiography. It does what it says on the cover - it gives Geraint's view on a load of cycling topics through some fun stories.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

G Force.

Dull narration nearly killed me!

Not the most thrilling of reads by any stretch. However, the narration pushed this firmly into the 'when will it end!?' camp. I think I may have marked this more harshly than (say) Froome's book on account of G's entertaining and funny personality that exudes when he's collared for a few words on telly - so perhaps I was expecting a bit more. Unfortunately, it's a bit 'blah'. I often listen to these sort of books (Mo Farah was another one) where I wonder what exactly I was expecting at the end... he's an elite athlete that trains a lot... perhaps there's not much to say!

An interesting insight into G's world

Humorous at times, insightful look at performing at the highest level in professional cycling.

The only slight criticism was that it seemed to end abruptly. I'd have quite happily listened for another hour or two.

Interesting insights into pro cycling with some funny stories to boot

Well read and very easy to listen to. If you’re a cyclist and watch the TDF once a year, this will definitely appeal.

He’s trying so hard to be funny that it takes away from the content

Almost every sentence is him trying to be funny or witty. It’s genuinely unbearable to listen to.
