Rayner Bourton, original Rocky Horror and all 'round nice guy, has released this wonderful new book with his memories of the early days of The Rocky Horror Show. It gives a brilliant insight from the first auditions though the original Theatre Upstairs production to the Kings Road shows.

For the true Rocky Horror fans, this book is a mine of information, with many descriptions of how the show evolved from the first drafts of Richard O'Brien's cult masterpiece to the polished article that opened on 19th June 1973. This book gives you insight into this magical period when none of these talented young actors had any clue that they were starting out on such an extraordinary journey. Crystal clear memories of those very early days have appeared obscured under a veil of glitter and fishnets. Until now.

Full of amusing anecdotes and endearing impressions of his fellow cast members, including Frankenfurter himself, Tim Curry, Rayner takes the reader on a fascinating journey. But there is more to this tale than Rocky. Rayner eloquently conveys his experience of city life during the 1970s - the people, parties, places and attitudes. This is definitely a must-have for Rocky Horror fans.

Disppointment

A MUST HAVE FOR ALL ROCKY FANS !! NOT THIS ONE !! of all the books i have read on or about this great show this is by far and away the worst I have read.Rayner narration still did not sell this to me, So sorry just one star from me

I love to hear what happened from someone who was there

Written by the original Rocky this is the story of the creation of one of the best loved musicals of all time ( stage show not the movie ) . A candid tale of creating a “ monster “ in all its gory detail, with some sections that will bring grown men to tears , this is a little gem . I feel like I was there .
