The heartwarming, funny and engaging memoir behind the best-selling, big-hearted and down-to-earth chefs, The Hairy Bikers. Written and read by the Hairy Bikers themselves.
The Hairy Bikers are known for their many best-selling cookbooks, including The Hairy Dieters, The Hairy Bikers' Perfect Pies, Great Curries and Mums Know Best, and now they are here to tell you how it all started.
Si King and Dave Myers, aka The Hairy Bikers, have lived life to the fullest. They had fantastically rich northern childhoods laced with food and fun, but of course with some tragedy too. But we also get to know the early Bikers - we find out how their friendship developed and all of the mad capers and round-the-world trips they went on. Perfect for their fans, heavily seasoned with warmth, food, love, bikes and bro-mance, the Hairies never fail to entertain.
This download also features a free recipe from The Hairy Bikers' best-selling cookbook, Meat Feasts.

I'm an average sort of bloke. I drive a truck round the uk and have gotten into listening to audiobooks as I drive a round...
yes I would, I find Simon is honest and trustworthy, Dave would be better if he was more natural and didn't try talking 'posh'
most of what Simon says, I don't do spoilers, but I got a lot of what he says
at first I wasn't very impressed with this one, basically Dave was trying to much to talk posh instead of just talking as Simon does. in fact I gave up after the first few chapters. I then tried again and I'm glad I did. the story gives a lot of insight into where they both come from, I enjoy watching them on the telly but always had my doubts, (I know that doesn't make sense) but now I see them both from a different perspective. Dave has had his heartaches, again I don't do spoilers, but a lesser man would give up. As for Simon King... who I sometimes saw as an attention seeking clown..(how very wrong I was, and I apologise for that) but he is actually a very decent genuine bloke, who's main drive is his family and friends, this is a no holds barred look at a bloke who just worked and worked and luckily gets his chance, and quite rightly, though it all comes at a price.. this is a very enjoyable moving look at a couple of northern blokes.. good luck to you both
Wow, what an inspiring, hilarious, emotional and uplifting book this is. I tend to listen in the car and had to pull over twice. Firstly because I shed a tear (and I'm not the sort of bloke to do this) due to heartfelt way Si and Dave read their stories. But also due to bellyaching laughter at some of the encounters they've had. They come across as two totally genuine people who love what they do and don't take it for granted. I wish them every success and am off to listen to it all over again!
This is one of the best books I have listened to and getting Dave and Si to read there chapters of the book
I can't say a bad thing about this book
A very moving and touching life they have both lived
It has been a very long time since I laughed and cried so much at a book. Coming from humble beginnings it just shows if you work hard enough you can do anything. Ive long been fans of the hairy bikers and now I've got to know them a bit more I absolutely love them. Couldn't recommend this book more, be prepared to laugh out loud but get those tissues ready.
From surprisingly humble beginnings for both Si and Dave they have by sheer hard work and quite a lot of persistence become two of the greatest personalities working in television today. The double act theme continues in the audio book with Si and Dave reading alternate passages with their infectious humour and enthusiasm. The book is told from both of their perspectives and is full of fun, ludicrous situations that couldn't be broadcast and a few poignant times as well. Success was almost inevitable with the amount of hard work and sacrifice that they have dedicated to their mission to bring their shared love of bikes and cooking to a wider audience. Well done.
One of my favourite as its very real, down to earth and insightful. Very entertaining and provided a good laugh at times.
Both characters were equally interesting and the overlap in their stories is amazing....meant to meet I think.
Glad the lads did the narration as it makes it more authentic and enjoyable to listen to.
Thought the honesty about their lives and ups and downs was refreshing and at times very moving.
Great book and would love another with more stories about their travels which were very entertaining and enjoyable.
I love audiobooks and will listen to a book whilst gardening or doing things around the house.
This audiobook is really very good. So, so much better than I expected. I bought it because of the rave reviews. They are deserved. The boys have done a great job with this autobiography. I had no idea that they had lived such interesting lives before their cookery shows. (No spoilers.) I have a new respect for them. Great audiobook!
