Summary
Thirteen years ago, Moab Is My Washpot, Stephen Fry’s autobiography of his early years, was published to rave reviews and was a huge best seller. In the years since, Stephen Fry has moved into a completely new stratosphere, both as a public figure, and a private man. Now he is not just a multi-award-winning comedian and actor, but also an author, director, and presenter.
In January 2010 he was awarded the Special Recognition Award at the National Television Awards. Much loved by the public and his peers, Stephen Fry is one of the most influential cultural forces in the country. This dazzling memoir promises to be a courageously frank, honest and poignant read. It will detail some of the most turbulent and least-well-known years of his life, with writing that will excite you, make you laugh uproariously, move you, inform you, and, above all, surprise you.

Good Storytelling
Stephen Fry's narration makes this brilliant.
Without Stephen Fry reading it would be an average book but his voice and intonation allow his personality to really come across making it a thoroughly entertaining experience.

Brilliant listening
Would you listen to The Fry Chronicles again? Why?
As soon as I finished listening to this book I returned to the beginning to listen again.I enjoy the way Stephen Fry tells his stories and I find them most interesting. I have even bought it on Kindle so that I can follow the words.
Who was your favorite character and why?
My favourite character is Stephen Fry. He is intelligent, modest, very talented and writes or speaks well.
Have you listened to any of Stephen Fry’s other performances? How does this one compare?
No I have not. Although my husband enjoyed the Harry Potter stories.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I was not able to listen in one sitting

Witty, entertaining and refreshingly honest.
Enlightening and entertaining, all that you would expect from the literary genius that is Stephen Fry...and more. 'The Fry Chronicles' was the first book I've 'read' of Stephen's and it won't be the last. Packed with refreshingly honest recollections, anecdotes and information, I enjoyed it on so many levels. Mr Fry himself was a joy to listen to, with his rich tones drawing you into his life and times. His depiction of university life and the hallowed grounds of Cambridge was particularly interesting to me. I will enjoy listening to this book over and again.

Honest, funny and touching
Any additional comments?
I've found Stephens novels hard going but this was an entertaining listen and I found I liked him much better after hearing him tell the story of his youth. We all know he is a very clever and witty man but this autobiography includes insights into his failings and foibles which I found touching and humanising.

Another outstanding book from one of England's greatest national treasures. Fry is honest, self deprecating and engaging throughout!

Splendiferous Fry!
I am thoroughly enjoying this book (started yesterday): Fry's meandering through this part of his life is poignant, fascinating and funny by turn. His wordsmanship is, of course, to the fore and he will , as promised in the opening statement 'use 100 words where 10 would do'. But this is why we love Fry and his self effacing ramblings of exquisite verbage.
I am rationing my listening, so as to make this book last and then I will download his earlier offering which I didn't realise covered his early childhood. What a treat!

De profundis
Part two of a trlogy (number three presently in the writing). A beautifully presented and thouroughly absorbing insight. Fry's characteristic dry, wordy humour evident in every well turned phrase.
