Hard to put down

I only know the latter-day Stephen Fry, not being familiar with his earlier career. This book is read by Stephen which makes any autobiography a great story to listen to. It's written with honesty, feeling, much humor, and the narration is superb. I liked Stephen before, after listening to his story, I have a much deeper feeling for the man. You will like this book!

Brilliant

Such a wonderful book, made even better by the fact it is read by the author. It gives a very good insight into Stephen Fry. I'm amazed that someone who appears to be so confident could have so many insecurities. I would highly recommend this audio book, well worth the money. You will not regret buying it.

Funny and engaging

Listening to Stephen Fry's sonorous and avuncular voice is like bathing in butter and marmite? I love it, but some find his style too prolix and discursive. You'll have to make up your own mind.

The Chronicles

Would you listen to The Fry Chronicles again? Why?

The narration by Mr Fry himself really added to the experience - at times it did seem that he was speaking directly to me. He mentioned lots of different people and how he knew them and some of their shared stories and it would be good to listen again to hear them.. I must confess that I didn't know everyone referred to and maybe I should google some of them next time so see who they are.

What did you like best about this story?

I hadn't listened to the first part of Mr Fry's autobiography but it was easy to pick up here as he did sort of do a recap of previous events.

What about Stephen Fry’s performance did you like?

I really enjoyed the way I felt he narrated the story just for me.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It had a few moments where I smiled to myself at some of the things he said.

Any additional comments?

There was a few moments of swearing in this so it's not something I would recommend to just anyone. If the language doesn't bother you - enjoy this small insight into what makes Stephen Fry the person he is.

Irresistible

There are aspects of SF that I don't like - for example I find QI too much. I mention this only as a qualification for my endorsement. Loved the word play and insight into the golden age of UK comedy with which I grew up.

shared humanity

I loved it and can't wait to start the sequel. It is a very humble autobiography and I recommend it to anyone who wants to learn a lot about themselves as well as Stephen.

One of my all time favorite people.

Fantastic use of the English language, beautifully written and narrated. He truly deserved all that he got through his hard work and good fortune.
