Summary
The celebrated story of how Marshall Mathers went from school and low-paid jobs in his native Detroit to global superstardom, rehab and comeback. Nick Hasted’s revealing account also looks back at Eminem's most important relationships -with his mother, his teenage soul-mate Kim Scott, producer Dr. Dre and The Bass Brothers who guided and inspired him from the age of fourteen.

Take with a pinch of salt
I found this book entertaining, however, luckily for me I have been an Eminem fan for over 20 years and already know a lot of details regarding his career and life.
This book is filled with factual inaccuracies. From his daughter's date of birth to the names of people mentioned. Also many of the stories' details are different to what Eminem has said himself during interviews.
So, give it a listen but don't take all of it as gospel. Just treat it like a fiction book if you need to but it is an entertaining book.

Amazing listen!
Such an amazing listen and insight in to Marshalls life until 2010… I’m quite a fan already but there was still areas I didn’t know about. Really interesting to listen to, just wish it continued until today with the same narrator… spoken perfectly!

Great Eminem Account
I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this audiobook about the genius that is Eminem. It starts off slow telling you about the early days of Detroit but it eventually gets going and when it does…wow what a story. You feel so sorry for the little blonde haired kid getting bullied all the time but if he never had all that done to him would we have had the lyrics and songs we have grown up listening too ? I’m glad he made it big through sheer determination and skill. His use of his alter ego “ Slim Shady “ really blew his career up and people took him seriously then. Highly recommend if you want to know about, in my opinion the greatest Rap God ever !
