Scar Tissue far transcends the typical rock biography, because Anthony Kiedis is anything but a typical rock star. It is instead a searingly honest memoir - a compelling story of dedication and debauchery, of intrigue and integrity, of recklessness and redemption. It is a story that could only have come out of Hollywood.

"The year's most astonishing rock autobiography." (The Observer)
Not just for peppers fans. This a the storey of the up & down lifesyle of a moden rockstar.
A must for every ex-addict and everyone else, life is a rollercoaster baby.
How this guy is still alive I do not know.
It opened up their music a lot for me and even went back and got the old albums to listen to. Following their progress and their music. Loved it and read really well. Amazed he is still alive
I found the story behind the Red Hot Chilli Peppers facinating and the book was very well read. The voice fit perfectly. Full marks.
This is toward the top of my library in terms of quality. It is an interesting account, it's a very long book that deals in depth with each stage of the band's progression, with a solid delivery by the narrator. I'm not the hugest fan of the band, but I lived through their times and it's a really interesting account of that. I admire the author's candid account, it doesn't seem like he held much back in the writing of this memoir.
What an incredible story!. And not only that Anthony is still alive. I've heard the Chilli Peppers commercial songs, but never been a mad huge fan. After hearing this I want to go out now and listen to every album as I feel I now have a small understanding of where it all comes from.
This warts and all story gives a great education on drugs and drug abuse and how the minds that are attached to these abused bodies work. I loved every minute, was gutted every time you lost the battle and cheered when you could stay sober. I had to listen to the last 3 hours in one hit - I couldn't turn off. To Anthony - Thank you for sharing so much.
To Rider - So very well read.
"Could only be a hollywood life"
Up near the top for sure. The narrator is fantastic & the book has got a great mix of highs, lows, funny bits, sad bits and so on that make it really easy to keep listening.
I loved the stories behind the music. What was going on in their lives when they were doing which shows. Anthony Keidis very unconventional childhood is interesting, as is his continued functioning as a musician to such a high level, whilst leading such a dysfunctional long time drug interest!
Never, but this one was fantastic!
No idea, but I would love them to make a film!
A great read/listen and an indepth look into Swans crazy life. Would definitely recommend. Rider Strong is excellent!
