The autobiography of the highest scoring batsman of all time.
The greatest run-scorer in the history of cricket, Sachin Tendulkar retired in 2013 after an astonishing 24 years at the top. The most celebrated Indian cricketer of all time, he received the Bharat Ratna Award - India's highest civilian honour - on the day of his retirement.
Now Sachin Tendulkar tells his own remarkable story - from his first Test cap at the age of 16 to his 100th international century and the emotional final farewell that brought his country to a standstill.
When a boisterous Mumbai youngster's excess energies were channelled into cricket, the result was record-breaking schoolboy batting exploits that launched the career of a cricketing phenomenon. Before long Sachin Tendulkar was the cornerstone of India's batting line-up, his every move watched by a cricket-mad nation's devoted followers.
Never has a cricketer been burdened with so many expectations; never has a cricketer performed at such a high level for so long and with such style - scoring more runs and making more centuries than any other player, in both Tests and one-day games. And perhaps only one cricketer could have brought together a shocked nation by defiantly scoring a Test century shortly after terrorist attacks rocked Mumbai.
His many achievements with India include winning the World Cup and topping the world Test rankings. Yet he has also known his fair share of frustration and failure - from injuries and early World Cup exits to stinging criticism from the press, especially during his unhappy tenure as captain.Despite his celebrity status, Sachin Tendulkar has always remained a very private man, devoted to his family and his country. Now, for the first time, he provides a fascinating insight into his personal life and gives a frank and revealing account of a sporting life like no other.

For any British Indian cricket fans, Sachin is a legend. Following his retirement this book was much anticipated....What a let down. Sachin always said he was "not about the stats" and he talks about exactly that. How many runs he scored in almost every match he played. Like the BBC football scores announcements on a Saturday....yawn!
The interesting parts are about his youth, his family and interactions with team mates everything else is made to sound boring though it was never boring to watch him play. I would have liked to know more about Sachin, what makes him tick, not how many runs he scored against Bangladesh!
This was easily the worst narrator to book match i have ever heard. The narrator couldn't even pronounce some of the players names properly and at times seemed like he was putting on the indian accent (border line offensive).
You have to listen to him to understand how bad he is.
Of all the books i've purchased through Audible, this was the worst for two main reasons:
2. The story.
"The narrator couldn't speak regular Indian words"
It was time well spent because I am a big fan of Sachin Tendulkar. But the overall audiobook is disappointing. The narrator couldn't speak regular Indian words which is a big turn off. Plus the book is very linear. The story of Sachin is well known, and I was expecting the book to be more than about just his cricket.
The performance could have been way better if the narrator had the sense of reading out all Indian words properly. And there are a lot of Indian words obviously.
This is a must listen. Very good book. Fantastic narration. Gives nostalgia. Fantastic experience. Perfect.
"Score board read as a story - Not a great listen."
I recommend this book only to Super avid Sachin fans who grew up watching most of the Sachin innings that he explains in this book, if not, do not bother buying this book. Sachin conveniently stays away from providing his opinions and perspective about controversial subjects like Captain selection process, Team selection process, match fixing scandal and many other events that surrounds this years in cricket. He only, and on quote 'Only' talks good things about every one in the cricket system. There were occasional instances where he expresses opinions on coaches and thats about it.
Most of the time, it gave me a feeling that Sachin is reading the score card from Cricinfo with very few perspectives to that innings.
"Fantastic inspiring story. Nicely narrated. Highly motivating"
Would highly recommend this awesome book to anyone.. Finished it in two weeks.. The book also has very honest and inspiring stories from his childhood all the way to retirement.
"Familiar book .. Foreign narration"
Narrator had a heavy accent. Would have benefitted from actual events being played in audio. Overall was an alright first experience
"Great story of the best batsman of our times"
The narrator is not a good choice. But well written auto biography. Hats off to Sachin!
"His life as "the God"!"
An honest and child like account of his life as the "Cricketer Tendulkar"!
A great player, a supportive teammate, a genuine philanthropist, a loving husband and father, an emotional man and an incredible human being.
He is an inspiration to a NATION and a GENERATION!
"SACHIN RAMESH TENDULKAR"
3 stars for narration
4 stars overall
"Wonderfull autobiography of a great person. Lucky"
Good narrator. It is a great feeling to know about the great personality. Lucky to have such a an excellent opportunity
"Horrible Narration, scorecard instead of a book"
The narration is horrible. The guy cant pronounce any Indian name or Indian city or even names of players outside India. For reading Sachin's biography one would assume that pronouncing Indian names would be important. He calls Sanjay Bangar and Banger.
That Sachin didnt say anything about match fixing, really how can you just skip it?
The narration is so annoying that instead of following the book one starts to notice the bad narration and bad pronunciation.
I am a huge fan of SRT so I want to know more about his journey and hence I paid for it but when compared with biographies of other cricketers, this is very unimpressive.
