Summary
Phil Collins' long awaited memoir doesn't hold back, featuring accounts of his music career and personal relationships. From his first tentative steps as a child actor to his remarkable career as a musician and his struggles with addiction and alcoholism, this is an intimate and engaging narrative about the man behind the music.
Phil Collins gained fame as both the drummer and the lead singer for Genesis and continues to enjoy worldwide success today. He's one of only three recording artists who have sold over 100 million albums both as solo artists and separately as principal members of bands - the other two being Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson.
Revered as a drummer, he's the only performer of distinction to have appeared at both the UK and US original Live Aid concerts, the creator of numerous worldwide hits, and an Oscar winner for the song 'You'll Be in My Heart' from the Disney film Tarzan.
Phil Collins' life has also been rich with experience outside of music, starting with his career as a child actor, appearing aged 13 as the Artful Dodger in the stage production of Oliver!, through Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Miami Vice and The Band Played On. In his memoir Phil talks honestly about his three failed marriages, his alcoholism and his ill health but also describes the highs and lows of his career and what it is like to work with other rock legends, from Eric Clapton to Robert Plant.
Published to coincide with the release of a singles collection, Not Dead Yet will thrill fans and change minds.

New Respect Indeed.
Biographies like these are an important read. They help you understand what goes on behind the scenes of life. They help you understand that everyone struggles with "stuff" and understanding this inspires you. I used to think Phil Collins was a pretty good singer for a drummer. He is also a pretty good author for a singer. Well done Philip. Well done.

superbly told, very inspiring
I was never a huge fan but I certainly am now. not just of the music but this incredibly gifted and hard working man. The stories in this book run parallel with memories I have of the 70's 80's 90's - lots of funny and fascinating anticdotes. well done Phil!

No Punches Pulled...
As a young drummer in the 1960s, I strived to have the power of John Bonham, the showmanship of Keith Moon and the precision of Phil Collins. Many people, who only know him as the solo singer from the 80s, are surprised to find the esteem he was held in by musicians in general, and drummers especially. But he also has a reputation for being 'difficult', so I was prepared for this book to be hard work. Happily, it was a real pleasure from start to finish.
His initial years in drama school, then his meeting with Genesis and their subsequent meteoric rise through the corridors of progressive rock, through to his solo success in the 1980s, Collins' tells the story with no punches pulled.
Along with the highs were some very dark lows, and he is well aware that he has, on more than one occasion, behaved atrociously, and nowhere is this more prevalent than in his family life, where wives (3) and kids (6) are resigned to always taking the back seat as demands on Collins' career grow. (He was so busy, he divorced his 2nd wife via fax)
Collins' narration is a first-rate job, where he remains animated and engaging throughout
Highly recommended

A truly honest autobiography
What made the experience of listening to Not Dead Yet the most enjoyable?
This book was refreshingly frank and fun from a musician who has really enjoyed life and done many of the things most of us think we would like to have done.
Phil has a great book to help make it easy to listen to his story, well written and well read helped past many hours of driving, thanks.

Well told story of a selfish man.
I guess it goes with the territory but Mr C tells of a life lived the way he wanted it and could afford easily. Quite a lot of wreckage but his professions of guilt are hardly ever followed up by changed ways. Well read. If you're a fan you will love it. If not, then a few 'tuts' might be heard.

It simply made me glad he's not dead, yet
This book is a tremendous insight to the highs of fame in 80's and 90's and the true cost of the lows. I most certainly highly recommend.
