Summary
Journalist, presenter, broadcaster, husband, father, vigorous all-rounder – Alan Partridge – a man with a fascinating past and an amazing future. Gregarious and popular, yet Alan’s never happier than when relaxing in his own five-bedroom, south-built house with three acres of land and access to a private stream. But who is this mysterious enigma?
Alan Gordon Partridge is the best – and best-loved – radio presenter in the region. Born into a changing world of rationing, Teddy Boys, apes in space and the launch of ITV, Alan’s broadcasting career began as chief DJ of Radio Smile at St. Luke’s Hospital in Norwich. After replacing Peter Flint as the presenter of Scout About, he entered the top 8 of BBC sports presenters. But Alan’s big break came with his primetime BBC chat show Knowing Me, Knowing You. Sadly, the show battled against poor scheduling, having been put up against News at Ten, then in its heyday. Due to declining ratings, a single catastrophic hitch (the killing of a guest on air) and the dumbing down of network TV, Alan’s show was cancelled. Not to be dissuaded, he embraced this opportunity to wind up his production company, leave London and fulfil a lifelong ambition to return to his roots in local radio.
Now single, Alan is an intensely private man but he opens up, for the second time, in this candid, entertaining, often deeply emotional – and of course compelling – memoir, written entirely in his own words. (Alan quickly dispelled the idea of using a ghost writer. With a grade B English Language O-Level, he knew he was up to the task.)
He speaks touchingly about his tragic Toblerone addiction, and the painful moment when unsold copies of his first autobiography, Bouncing Back, were pulped like ‘word porridge’. He reveals all about his relationship with his ex-Ukrainian girlfriend, Sonja, with whom he had sex at least twice a day, and the truth about the thick people who make key decisions at the BBC.
A literary tour de force, I, Partridge: We Need to Talk About Alan charts the incredible journey of one of our greatest broadcasters.

An extension to the Partridge Universe
A very funny book in the style of all Alan Partridge shows. if you have watched most of the shows around Alan it will cover some familiar ground but it's so well put together and hearing Alan's opinion is genuinely hilarious. I've lost count the amount of times I've laughed out loud on my commute listening to this.

a must listen for fans of the show
Absolutely loved it and will be listening again. I imagine this is the best way of experiencing the book, having it read to you by the man himself. The way he describes events from the shows from his own perspective rather than how it happened on the show is pure genious and hilariously funny. A real laugh out loud listen.
Imagine it would be enjoyed even if you haven't watched the shows, but listening to it and relating back to the shows really showcases the brilliant comedy which is intended.
Highly highly recommended for Partridge fans.
Put it on in the car and enjoy it on both short and long journeys alike. It is something that can easily be played and enjoyed in short bursts.
Probably the best audible purchase I have made.
Enjoy.

A-ha Alan
First audiobook I've bought and what a way to start it. It was just like listening to a very, very, very long episode in a good way. For the most part it was like you're across the table listening to him tell you his rubbish/brilliant stories.
Do it

Fun parts from the book not included!
This audio book is great as it's read by the man himself! One thing I would say though is that there are some hilarious parts in the book which are missing. In the book there are cues for when to play tracks Alan wants you to listen to while reading particular parts. Also there are pictures and a foreword which you don't get in the book. I'd reccomend getting the book too!
All around though its a great audio book and I'd thoroughly reccomend it if your an Alan Partridge fan.

Comic genius
Just perfect. Never wanted it to end. Audio version a double whammy treat as Steve Coogan narrates himself. Complete joy.

Brilliantly Funny
I'm new to Alan Partridge, but what a way to be introduced! Completely hilarious, this autobiography of the great man/character is a brilliant way to get up to speed with all his exploits, particularly narrated as it is by the great man/character himself. Just a word of warning: prepare to laugh and/or snort out loud quite a few times during the experience. So expect to get a couple of strange looks on the tube or as your walk through the park whilst listening.

Unbelievably Good
Where does I, Partridge: We Need to Talk About Alan rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I love this audio so much, I haven't listened to the last chapter because I am so sad to end it. I laughed out loud...yes, I know people say that silly phrase in reviews, and I always thought they were idiots...but I actually did.
This is Steve Coogan at his ultimate. If, like me, you are an ex-pat in an oasis of Australian "humour" and need to get your Brit back, this is essential listening. Don't bother with the book - the audio, with Partridge narrating, will revive a true Brit back to our special brand of funny. More please Steve.

Alan makes me laugh twice
I read this book after getting it for my birthday, and I found it funny. But when I heard it on audiobook it really came to life. To hear Steve Coogan, with impeccable comic timing, deliver the Alan Partridge moment made the whole thing that much funnier. There were plenty of awkward moments, and a barrel full of belly laughs. A must listen for Alan fans or merely fans of comedy.
