Summary

In 2004 Dom Joly wrote a spoof autobiography called Look At Me, Look At Me. In Here Comes the Clown, he takes up the story of his life from 14 January 2000, when the very first episode of Trigger Happy TV aired on Channel 4 and everything changed for him. Suddenly he was famous; reality was weirder than any fiction he could conjure up.

This is the story of what happened next, through snippets of recollections from his adventures in show business....

Dom Joly is a British television comedian and journalist. He is the star of Trigger Happy TV, a hidden camera show that was sold to over 70 countries worldwide as well as World Shut Your Mouth for BBC1 and Dom Joly's Happy Hour, a spoof travel show for Sky One.

Legend

Dom really doesn’t get the credit he deserves for pretty much defining what is now very established genre. He is also a Jammie git.

This time it's for real.

.... I think. I enjoyed this book better than the last 'memoirs' which were mostly made up.

I know now because Mr Joly said so in this volume.

Very entertaining. I enjoyed it a lot.

JUST BRILLIANT

brilliantly honest, witty and wonderfully funny. Dom has done it again. Hopefully I'll suffer a short spell of memory loss later on today, in the hope that I'd be able to listen to this again with fresh ears...

Done it again Dom!

Would you consider the audio edition of Here Comes the Clown to be better than the print version?

Having Dom reading the book to you brings out the full meaing behind what he wrote. So funny

What was one of the most memorable moments of Here Comes the Clown?

Learning how all of the programs and projects came about and the silly stunts such as the CCTV Mega Zoom to a Sheep loving man Incident

Which character – as performed by Dom Joly – was your favourite?

Snail crossing the road - THTV

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

After reading all of Dom’s other books I was delighted that he released his new one just before I went on holiday, so I could power read it!

Any additional comments?

Again, a great read and totally engrossing. What an amazing run of fortune and fail Dom has had. So glad he is still the laughing clown ready to entertain us again…

loved it. Dom tells a great tale.

loved it. Dom tells a great story. Funny, witty and very self aware, a bit like a real life Alan Partridge.

Loved it.

Poignant at times, laugh out loud at others.

I am always grateful to anyone who dares to be publicly vulnerable... What a beautiful joie de vie this man clearly has, wringing every last drop out of this life business. Although his wife deserves some sort of OBE for tolerating his seemingly endless jollies.

Still chuckling at the salt beef saga..I think it might inspire my inner arsehole into some practical jokery....
