Summary

In the much-anticipated follow-up to Sunday Times best seller Trapped, foster carer Rosie Lewis tells the heartbreaking true story of Zadie.

When the young teenage girl, thrown out of her home by her strict Muslim family, is discovered hiding on the city streets by the police, it is clear that all is not as it should be.

Taught to believe that Westerners should not be trusted, when Zadie is initially delivered into the experienced hands of foster carer Rosie, she is understandably suspicious of the family around her. Through Rosie's support and understanding, gradually Zadie begins to settle into her new surroundings, but loyalty to her relatives prevents her from confessing the horrifying truth about her troubled past.

When the shocking truth finally emerges, Rosie and her family can hardly believe that Zadie had managed to keep the secret to herself for so long.

Awesome!

Cried few times and am nit a crying over an audio book. This story has awoken some memories from my childhood, also from muslim background and the oppression of me in family and marriage… i am glad the girl had a happy ending, no child or woman should be subjected to such horrific “traditions”

Heartbreaking but yet so amazing

This is definitely a story that needs to be listened too, but make sure you have the tissue ready as you will need it. Have read all of Rosie’s books but in the wrong order being blind lol but I couldn’t wait to read the next one. Definitely shows what foster carers go through and after being adopted and having foster children this is 100% true, honest and genuine thank you for writing these books.

Heartwarming insight into foster care and the trauma of a young girl bestowed by her male relatives

I liked the insight it gave into why foster careers do what they do. The heart break they feel at times but also the immeasurable impact they have on young people’s lives. I don’t want to give away the story but I’ve never heard anything like this before and it also raises awareness so that as a society we can all help these children. Thank you Rosie
