Summary

When Lucy Pinney arrived in the lush Dorset countryside nearly 30 years ago she was newly married, very enthusiastic, charmingly naive and launched herself into pig-keeping, cake-baking and lamb- rearing with gusto. But nothing had prepared her for the essential oddness and precariousness of rural life.

This funny, honest and affectionate member of a life spent learning to know and love the countryside, is a humorous, evocative and page-turning read.

Critic reviews

"A delightful memoir." (Woman and Home)
"One can't help laughing at this city girl as she copes with country life miserably, unsuccesfully delivering her first lamb or attempting to get a pig's head unstuck from a drain." (Bridport News)

Brilliant and evocative

This was a beautifully written, at times funny, at times sad recount.

I would highly recommend. The narrator also befits the story well. I enjoyed from start to finish.
