    "Dodgy Audio"

I downloaded this yesterday and have listened to 20 minutes of chapter 1. The audio is appalling, with a weird echo or phasing effect that makes it pretty much unlistenable.

Will be contacting audible to feed this back. I expected more, very disappointed

The star rating is for the audio quality as I've not yet been able to listen to the book!

"there are much better running books out there"

I bought this after reading the inspirational 'born to run'.

If you haven't read born to run get it instead of this.

If you have read born to run you will only be disappointed by this.

Not only does this book not deliver on the promise to reveal tips and secrets (which BTR does), but the author, who reads it himself has an annoying, whiney voice.

On top of that everything is very US centric, as though the author doesn't know there is a world outside the US. Fine if you are an American, annoying if you are not.

    "Inspirational"

For anyone with even a passing interest in running this audio book is a must, even non runners would find it inspiring. Runners into extreme distances will love listening to the story of this remarkable ultra runner. The only gripe....it's abridged.... Little snippets on what it takes to be an ultra runner and totally down to earth from the author.

    "Missed the mark"

As a runner, I was looking forward to listening to this book, but ended up quite disappointed. While running 50 marathons in 50 days is one heck of an accomplishment, Dean's narration comes accross as self promoting and at times even condesending. Also, he seems like he is almost bored with the narration and would rather be doing something else than telling his story. I had a couple of cases where I was out on a run listening to this book and ended up switching to music which is something I rarely do with many of the running podcasts I regularly listen to. This is a case where I think reading the book would have been better than listening.

"Save Your Money & Buy A Better Book"

Dean narrates his own book. If you like feeling like you are back in kindergarten being read to this book may be for you. If you want to spend money on a book where you will learn next to nothing about running buy this book. In the book he talks way too much about his kids....who cares! He doesn't really offer much that is helpful. His first book was pretty good but this one sucks! I kept listening to it hoping that it would get better becase I couldn't believe that it could actually be that bad. It is a really awful book and I had to stop listening to it half way through....boring and unhellpful. If you want to read some good books on running and actually learn something read Born To Run and books by Joe Friel.
    ...my two cents!

    "Great book to run to."
What did you love best about 50/50?

This book kept me motivated. 50/50 inspired me to keep running. Dean did a great job of explaining what he went through and also talking about all the other runners. It's not just about his accomplishment of doing 50 marathons in 50 days, which is amazing...but this book is about his support crew, the runners that flew from other countries, states, and cities just to run with him, and also what his family went through.

Have you listened to any of Dean Karnazes’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

50/50 is more on my level than Ultra Marathon Man. At least I can say that I am able to do a 1/2 marathon now. :)

    "Another terrific Karno"
What made the experience of listening to 50/50 the most enjoyable?

I have read or listened to all of Dean Karnazes' books. I like the warmth, humbleness, and down-to-earthiness of the guy. And he's funny! My kids enjoy listening to his stories too. He treated the people he met in each of the 50 marathons with kindness and appreciation. That's really something!

What other book might you compare 50/50 to and why?

Ultramarathon Man because it talks about various events and people throughout his journey.

    Which scene was your favorite?

    Can't say yet.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

It's really not about the running.

    Any additional comments?

I liked hearing Dean read his own books and convey his voice in his work so honestly.

What did you love best about 50/50?

Great to listen to while running. I found the book inspiring while running. Nice break from music. Not as good as some of Dean's other books, but still definitely worth the time.

Would you consider the audio edition of 50/50 to be better than the print version?

Yes audio is better overall, but print would be better to go back and reference.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

Most = what this guy accomplished
    Least = not sure

Which character – as performed by Dean Karnazes – was your favorite?

    n/a, it's not a play

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

    50/50

    Any additional comments?

Good book overall for any runner.

Where does 50/50 rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

    Pretty highly

Would you be willing to try another book from Dean Karnazes and Matt Fitzgerald ? Why or why not?

Yes, especially if Karno narrates it himself.

    Any additional comments?

Didn't enjoy the side story of the crew collecting a total of 50 women's phone numbers at the 50 events... Women aren't things to collect and add to a list like race finishes... A bit misogynistic and rather disappointing.
