Publisher's Summary

Danger and violence have always been part of Sue Dalston's East End upbringing. Unloved by her mother, abused by her father, and brutalised throughout her entire marriage, she smashed her husband's skull in a final act of desperation. All that keeps her sane knows that she's done it to protect her four children. At last, they are safe from harm. When she is celled up with murderess Matilda Enderby, their fates become inextricably linked. And no one - least of all Sue - could have predicted the consequences...

    "excellent!!"

The story grips you from the very beginning! Martina Cole delivers every time and the narrator Jacqueline King is superb! she lends each character a totally different voice and you can almost see them in your minds eye. I know that I will definitely come back to this book over and over again.

    "Two Women"

This is a great read. It gives a vivid account of a young girl growing up in a harsh environment with little love at home and no real family life. The young girl had to grow up early and then have the same mistakes happen all over again. It comes to a reasonably happy ending through the good actions from the most unlikely people and portrays the changes that take in people over their lives. The book portrays the harsh realities of a young girl growing up in an abusive household in the East End of London and yet she turns out to be a loving person who only wants to provide the best for her family.

    "Fascinating"

How two lives from complete opposite lifestyles meet is fascinating. The book helps to gain an understanding of why some women tolerate abuse for so long. An excellent read into the psyche of abuse and the triumph of justice.

    "two women"

I felt that the discription of this book doesn't really discribe much about the true storyline of this book. But that said , I really enjoyed this book (if enjoy is the right word you can use about a book describing the abominable treatment of women !!!!) , this is Martina Cole when she's on form !!!

A different narrator to the other MC books , but Jacquelie King did a really good job.

I'm so glad audible have obtained more of Martina Coles older books , there have been a lot of them I've missed out on , I look forward to listening to them

    "love it!"
Where does Two Women rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

As usual another gripping story line with lots of twists and turns

What other book might you compare Two Women to, and why?

As good as all martinas books

What does Jacqueline King bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

i enjoy reading as well as audible but listen in my car on the way to work every day so more convenient for me than a book.

    Any additional comments?

would recommend as one of her best

    "Brilliant"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, a really good listen. Loved it. Great storyline.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Two Women?

There are loads of small moments that were so well written and narrated I totally forgot this is fiction. I don't want to give anything away but this book is full of memorable moments.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

    See above

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Survival, love, hate, blood, rape...... and a hammer!

    Any additional comments?

Every emotion possible has been brought to the surface while listening to this book. I laughed at the silly antics fully grown men thought they could (and sometimes did) get away with, I cried at the law's neglect of an obviously violent and volatile situation, I was angry and frustrated that this could be a real situation somewhere for certain women. Martina well done! Brilliant!

    "Riveting and difficult listening"

Martina weaves a story that keeps you hooked.....love this genre and Ms Cole is a master in this style of writing...I couldn't put it down...although it took me a while to get use to this narrator... Being so used to hearing Annie Aldington's dulcet tones.

"Two women, not quite the best narrator"
Where does Two Women rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

The story is fast moving and very good, but, the narrator is not eastend enough. It becomes slightly BBC2 and less aggressive.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Susan is very believable and gutsy. She is like a mother lion.

What three words best describe Jacqueline King’s performance?

    Sensitive, soft, fluffy.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

    A mother's love.

    Any additional comments?

    Love Martina Cole
