A superb collection of stories that will enthral both young and old. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is one of the world's great storytellers, exhibiting astounding versatility in his narration, as he ranges between science fiction (in "When the World Screamed"), mystery and adventure (in "The Lost Special"), horror (in "The Leather Funnel"), action and heroism (in "The Croxley Master") and the ghostly occult (in "The Brown Hand"). This outstanding collection will keep listeners on the edge of their armchairs for 10 hours of breathless excitement and suspense.

I got Twenty minutes in and could not stand another minute of the Narrators performance
I've started Zodiac Station
Her voice was up in tone then normal then up then normal and all in the wrong places. It drove me insane
I would still like to hear the stories as I'm a huge fan, but not with this Narrator
I also have great Spy stories with this Narrator and it's just the same; urgh
I loved the stories but the narration really intruded. Now I fully realise that some may find her style acceptable but personally I found her voice far too 'watch with mother' and her delayed terminal consonants very irritating. I would strongly suggest listening to a long sample before purchase. I am not sure if I can bear to finish listening to this audiobook!
I don't think anyone would persevere with this reading
Yes, definitely, but with a different reader
Cut nothing out
Very disappointed. I love Conan Doyle's work, and could not continue long listening because of the repetitive modulation pattern of the reader.
"Great stories but hard for me to listen to"
I loved the stories in this audiobook- typical Arthur Conan Doyle. However, the see-sawing lilting narration completed distracted me from the story being read. The narrator read the stories as one might read a story to a child. I cringed the whole time but persevered simply because of my love of Arthur Conan Doyle's writing. Listen to a sample of the narration before buying this. She may sound lovely to you and if so, you will enjoy the audiobook.
"Exaggerated, strange reading, fabulous stories."
The reader is, perhaps, hamming it up -- adding intonations and dramatic weird pauses. It gets in the way of the stories, which are of course great.
