Winner of the British Book Awards, Book of the Year, 2005.

A murder in the silent, late night halls of the Louvre reveals a sinister plot to uncover a secret that has been protected by a clandestine society since the days of Christ. The victim is a high-ranking agent of this ancient society who, in the moments before his death, manages to leave gruesome clues at the scene that only his cryptographer daughter and her symbologist friend can untangle. The duo becomes both suspects and detectives searching not only for the murderer, but also the stunning secret he was charged to protect.

Enjoyable and insightful.
So many negative reviews are proof of small mindedness.

Worth a listen.

just fantastic!

Dan Brown's da vinci code is full of fascinating twists and turns. A must read for historical and religious scholars. I love the way he combines actual places and objects with his fantastic fiction writing. Although at some points in the book Dan Brown has taken some great leaps of faith in describing the grail and priory of sion. Never the less the book provides gripping story from beginning to end.

Gripping Stuff

Excellent and facinating, still trying to work out what is fact and what is fiction, the plot is very intricate, perhaps a little predictable at times but great listen. There aren't enough hours in the day, would definately recommend.

Over-performed

Still a fun and engaging listen/read after 15+ years, particularly if you know the locations referenced.

The performance is perhaps a little too performed, as Jeff Harding puts on exaggerated French male and female accents, as well as an elderly English accent for Teabing where he is clearly having a little too much fun. It's fun, but quite silly and may ruin the escapism for some. The only performance that truly works is Robert Langdon.

A very creative story

I’ve read this book several times but this is the first time listening to it as an audiobook. I haven’t been disappointed. Every time I revisit this novel I’m blown away by its complexity and creativity: the intricate way in which art is combined with religion and legend. Dan Brown’s imagination is stunning. The narrator also does an excellent job with great voices and accents, particularly that of English aristocrat Sir Leigh Teabing. A very clever book which I will no doubt read again and again.
