Danger surounds all those who oppose the ruling elite. But together with his protégés, Lostris, the beautiful 14-year-old daughter of his master Lord Intef, and the proud young army officer Tanus, Taita begins the long and dangerous journey towards his own glorious dream: to restore the majesty of the Pharaoh of Pharaohs on the glittering banks of the nile.

Beautiful story and Tahita is still my most loved book character. BUT the reading is abridged and missing a lot of the story!!! Some of my very most favourite parts have been taken out. It's still a pleasure to listen to but I would recommend reading to the book witch is more complete.
This well written story, equally well narrated, draws on the whole spectrum of human emotions. In parts it is chilling and brutal, and in others romantic and seductive. If you like historical drama, you'll love River God.
Can't express how disappointed I am with this bullet point version of River God It's been abridged almost beyond recognition , huge swathes of the original book have been omitted .
If you loved reading the book , this version is guaranteed to leave you asking what happened to the story
I love Wilbur Smith and this Egyptian saga, but having read the book the abridged audio leaves out so much it left me looking for the paper copy again.
This is a great book, or would be if it were not edited. It is full of thrills then suddenly ends, leaving the reader rather surprised.
if you like the Egyptian theme you will not be able to stop listening to the end, you are taken in to the story and it is like you are part of it. fantastic read.
highly recommend this. Read the book 3 times, had to download it . once you start to read it, its difficult to put down.
I found this to be a very good listen, so much so it inspired me to purchase the others in the series. It was most intresting following the main character Tiahta on his journey. I would recommend this book.
"Why making abridged vertion?"
The original is far better than this abridged vertion who takes away most of what makes this story compelling.
I was disapointed!
"Couldn't finish it"
I didnt like the narration and the story. Its nice that is in ancient egypt but I didnt find I was learning a lot about how things wore done then. I read 50% of the book and gave up
"the river god"
