Summary

In his Alpine base, Blofeld is developing biological weapons that will devastate Britain. Unaware of the danger, James Bond is about to marryTeresa di Vicenzo, the daughter of a Corsican Mafioso. But then he is sent to Switzerland. Bond’s marriage and Blofeld’s schemes disintegrate in a blizzard of gunfire and high-explosives from which neither man emerges the victor.

Includes an exclusive bonus interview with David Tennant.

Ian Fleming was born in London in 1908. He was educated at Eton and worked as a journalist in Moscow and a banker and stockbroker in London before becoming personal assistant to the Director of Naval Intelligence during the Second World War. He wrote his first Bond novel, Casino Royale, in 1952 at Goldeneye, his home in Jamaica. Since then James Bond has gone on to become a global phenomenon.

David Tennant has won critical acclaim for his performance as Detective Alec Hardy in the hugely successful crime drama Broadchurch, a role he is soon to reprise in the upcoming American remake, Gracepoint. He shot to global fame during his tenure as the Tenth Doctor in the Doctor Who series, and has starred in a number of other award winning films and television shows, including Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and Single Father. On stage he has played Benedick in Much Ado about Nothing, as well as the title roles in Hamlet and Richard II.

On Her Majesty’s Secret Service

Great audiobook. Gripping storyline from Ian Fleming made all the more exciting by David Tennant’s excellent narration.
This is the first book I’ve read in this audible series - really enjoyed it - Tennant is the perfect voice for 007. It would have been even better if he could have done all the Bond stories.

One of the best but letdown by narration issues

Good entry into the Bond series with a well paced story and interesting characters. There was also actual spy work by Bond this outing where he goes undercover instead of telling everyone his name. The narration by Tennant has a noticeable slapping of his lips which made it uncomfortable to listen to otherwise it would have been an excellent performance.

I loved this

I loved this and couldn't wait to listen when I had a moment. David Tennant's narration is superb and I believed all of his character's. Good, nostalgic escapism in true James Bond style.

My favourite Bond movie just got better...

My favourite Bond movie just got better. On Her Majesty's Secret Service has been My no.1 Bond film since I was a kid. The Audio book is so very much MORE than the film. More story, more detail, more vivid. LOVE IT. David Tenant did an incredible job narrating the various characters. His vocalisation of Irma Bunt evoked the Actress Ilse Steppat from the Movie version perfectly. The only character that seemed out of place was Blofeld... I kept expecting Telly Savalas's voice.
