Summary

It starts with a trip to a local amusement park. David Harwood is hoping a carefree day at Five Mountains will help dispel his wife Jan's recent depression, black moods that have led to frightening thoughts of suicide. Instead, a day of fun with their four-year-old son Ethan turns into a nightmare.

When Jan disappears from the park, David's worst fears seem to have come true. But when he goes to the police to report her missing, terrified that she's planning to take her own life, the facts start to indicate something very different. The park's records show that only two tickets were purchased, David and Ethan's, and CCTV shows no evidence that Jan ever entered the park at all.

Suddenly, David's story starts to look suspicious - suspicious enough for the police to wonder if she's already dead, murdered by her husband. To prove his innocence and keep his son from being taken away from him, David is going to have to dig deep into the past and come face to face with a terrible childhood tragedy - but by doing that he could risk destroying everything precious to him.

A riveting thriller

I hadn't heard of this writer before but will certainly be looking out for more of his books. Never Look Away is an enthralling story with many unexpected twists and turns and a narrative drive that reminded me of Robert Goddard at his best. Investigator reporter, David Harwood, gets embroiled in a nightmare scenario after his wife of 6 years goes missing and he is suspected of murdering her. He uncovers surprise after surprise as he tries to prove his innocence.
The reader is excellent and I couldn't stop returning to the recording to find out what on earth was going to happen next.

Never Put It Down

A very fast paced and involving storyline, which had my headphones glued to my ears permanently until I'd reached the end. Never has housework been so enjoyable. Believable characters, great storyline. Well narrated. Definitely five stars for this one.

Really good pace

I only got this book because I had to use up some credits, and it turned out it is one of the best downloads I have had from audible. The story and pace of the book is great, really difficult to stop listening. Will definatly be checking out more Linwood Barclay books hope they are all this good!

A Great Book

I came across this author by accident after wading through a number of bargain bucket audio CD's on a local market stall. ?2.50 for a brand new unabridged recording of 'No time for Goodbye' how could I go wrong. Ever since then I have watched with anticipation for further releases from this author and have not been disappointed once again with this fantastic gripping, twisting well read story.
I listen to audio stories in the car on the way to and from work but with this book it's just not long enough and find myself looking for any excuse to listen to more.

Shame, nothing to write home about

I found the narrative very grating and really took from the book in my opinion. The story did have twists and turns and would not have guessed at them but I felt it was all a bit too far fetched and unbelievable. I kinda like to read something that I could believe happened. Im sure many will love this book as many Audible and Amazon customers have reviewed but not for me.

Brilliant!

Any additional comments?

Excellent thriller. Echos of Gone Girl. Intelligently written, with well drawn characters and a genuinely exciting story. I really didn't want to put it down.

Fast paced thriller

When I first started to listen to this book I have to admit I was put off by the narrators voice. I had listened to a sample but was more swayed by the description and reviews. I listened to the first chapter and thought I cant get into this the narrators voice for me was rather irritating so I left it for a while.
I then returned to it and I,m so glad i did. the narrator grew on me and his voice characterisations I thought were rather good. The story is very fast paced, with lots of twists and turns, you think its going down one road and then it changes direction.
Didnt give five stars because I thought the beginning wasnt very captivating but glad I stuck with it because in the end I really enjoyed it. t

A randomly discovered delight

I downloaded this based on the strength of reviews. The sample on here didn't sound great but thought I'd give it a go anyway as I'd seen a review that the narration was better than the sample indicated.

I really enjoyed this. Its an easy listen, not particularly cerebral, but it had me hooked from fairly early on and I finished this very quickly.

The narration was very good, and able to convincingly, and seamlessly, deliver all the characters from young to old, male to female.

I've now downloaded No Time For Goodbye from the same author and going to see how that one goes.
