Following a suicide bombing in central London, series SAS hero Danny Black is recruited to be part of an assassination squad, directed by a joint MI5/MI6/CIA committee and tasked with hunting down and killing the terrorist cells believed to be planning further atrocities. Early leads take them to a North London mosque and a one-armed hate cleric, whom the Home Secretary repeatedly tries and fails to expel from the country, a sleazy Saudi prince living in a Park Lane Hotel - on the surface a devout Muslim, he devotes himself to booze, drugs and hookers as soon as his family are out of the building - and a grizzled ex-Regiment guy who is spreading rumours that Diana was assassinated by the SAS in the tunnel in Paris because of her Arab lover.
The trail of clues takes Danny to a training camp in the Yemen, but just as he has the enemy in his sights, he discovers that they are somehow one step ahead of him, and he begins to suspect that they are being topped off by someone close to home.

Great story. Didn't like the narrator a such as book 01
Interesting story line. Didn't quite conclude enough at end. Hopefully book 3 will expand on things.
Fan of life and happiness
To be honest, you know what you're going to get from a Chris Ryan book, so I wasn't disappointed. What I was disappointed with was the narration- poor interpretations if the characters, far too whiney and annoying
This has to be in my top 3 best books.
I would compare this to Zero Six Bravo, for it's intense and gripping storyline.
Michael Fenner always manages to hold the attention of the listener with his fantastic narration ability.
The poles... The meeting...
Well worth a listen, makes the tedious days at work fly by...
I enjoyed this second Danny Black novel as I did Masters of War, the first in this series. I liked the story, the range of characters (although brother Kyle is so despicable I felt Danny should cut him off without a second thought) and the geographical settings. BUT at the end I could cheerfully have strangled Clara! I do despise female characters who become sanctimonious when they're saved through violent action - what did she expect Danny to do? Stupid female. I would have been helping him finish them off! I hope that's the last of Clara and Chris Ryan invents a better partner for his central character, one who appreciates his skills and willingness to do whatever it takes to save her and others. I liked the narrator Michael Fenner as much as Jamie Parker who narrated Masters of War but accept they portray the characters differently. I've now bought book 3 Hellfire and look forward to listening to that after another fix of the wonderful Jeff Harding reading another of the incomparable Lee Child's Jack Reacher novels.
I really enjoyed the first in this series. So often it's the narrator that makes all the difference with an audiobook, even to the extent that you can forgive the occasionally flimsy storyline. Unfortunately this book suffers from a very bad narrator who completely reinterpreted the lead character and his girlfriend and seemed to give everybody the caricature voiceover treatment. Shame.

The narrator was poor at reproducing northern accents and had the unfortunate effect of making them all sound really 'thick'. I found this very distracting
Cliché after cliché. One-dimensional characters, mediocre story and ridiculous plot lines made this a real chore to listen to. I'll stick with McNab thanks.
Top notch in all respects. Outstanding plot, execution and narration; good enough to listen twice.
"Danny Black - Man of Honour"
Well written book. excellently researched book that just keeps the pages flowing. cannot wait for the next book in the series to be released.
"Story was hard to follow."
really hard to follow, had trouble finishing it. the performance was only thing that kept me going.
