Publisher's Summary

Islamic State is here, all around us. There is no defence. Only attack.

On the Syria/Iraq border, a British hostage is beheaded by IS terrorists. When the executioner breaks down, he is led into a nearby tent, where a masked figure is waiting for him. This mysterious person is treated with a mixture of respect and terror. They call him the Caliph.

In Nigeria the British Ambassador and his young aide are kidnapped. A four-person SAS team is deployed to find him. The team includes Danny Black and Caitlin Wallace - an expert on West Africa. In Nigeria the team find devastation, and when they discover prisoners infected with the plague they realise they have uncovered a combined Boko Harem/IS plot to unleash a bio-terrorist attack.

The team must stop the terrorists and identify the Caliph before the deadly disease is released much closer to home.

Forget female Scandi cops. Give me a red-blooded thriller with a moral core any day.

    "Well Worth the Wait"

'High-adrenaline' is an over-used phrase when it comes to special forces novels, but in this case it is more than justified. I was pacing around the house biting my finger nails as I listened to the climax of Hellfire. I don't want to spoil it for you, but suffice to say there is plenty of cool action, great locations, unexpected twists and enjoyable friction between characters - just as we've come to expect from the Danny Black series.

    "Oh Woe, what a mistake"

No editor touched this book, repetitions, mistakes; arrive on a motorbike and leave in a car. The there is the breathy lip smacking narration. Awful, just awful. Needn't have been either. Such a mistake in such an amateurish way.

Decent enough story. Narrator is poor. Quite a good trilogy overall. Easy going when in the car.

    "Another great Chris Ryan story."

No one writes better thrillers than Chris Ryan. Brilliant from start to finish.
This has to be one of his best SAS books yet. 5 star.

    "Awful."
Would you try another book written by Chris Ryan or narrated by Michael Fenner?

I would have to be desperate.

What was most disappointing about Chris Ryan’s story?

Narration and the poor use of regional accents and the stereotypical portrayal of Black as an uncouth, uneducated military machine.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

His use of regional and cultural accents not everyone from Birmingham speaks with a strong Brummie accent.

You didn’t love this book--but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Improved my geographical knowledge of the Middle East.

"Terrorism and Biological Weapons a great mix *****"
Would you listen to Hellfire: Danny Black, Book 3 again? Why?

Gripping story line with decent plot twists and great action sequences

What other book might you compare Hellfire: Danny Black, Book 3 to, and why?

This is no different to the other Danny Black series books gripping, thrilling and always action packed

What does Michael Fenner bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

The accents he simulated many different accents really well

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

If I had time I would this book was particularly gripping

    Any additional comments?

Biological weapons and terrorism are a fantastic mix good storylines, good characters in the book who you actually like and dislike for example Spud Glover's character had more of an outing in this book and was integral to the team albeit indirectly

    "Awesome..."

I loved it, I just couldn't stop listening. This should made into a movie. I actually missed my stop on the train cause I was so engaged... I will be listening to it again very soon.

    "Good listen but badly flawed"

Good book and an entertaining listen. Not sure how much Chris Ryan has to do with his books as the SBS would have approached the rig via water and breached that way rather than fly into a very hit LZ under fire. Plus of course special forces soldiers while special are not inhuman and with broken ribs and a smashed face are as fragile as the rest of us.
