    "Much more than I expected"

I usually choose an audio book because of the narrator not the author, so having seen the movie of “From Russia With Love” I felt this would be an easy choice, albeit not a very adventurous one. I couldn’t have been more wrong. The book contains much more depth, some fascinating characters that never made it to film, and a completely side to Bond which makes him much more fallible, vulnerable and therefore interesting as the central figure. Toby Stephens is excellent as always. He provides light and shade to the characters and his narration adds tension to the plot without ever seeming OTT. Well worth a try.

"Truest Of Bonds. Bravo Mr Fleming"

Much has obviously been written elsewhere about the history of Agent 007 in literay and filmic terms and will be written again through the future in all forms. I read the majority of the original James Bond books in my later school years before college with the exceptions of Man With The Golden Gun and The Spy Who Loved Me and loved them from day one.

As such when I heard of the Bond Reloaded series I was very enthusiastic and based on what I just finished, I was right to be so. I picked FRWL based on it having been read by Toby Stevens who read Carte Blanche - One of the best parts of that also excellent audiobook.

Despite taking a while to get used once again to the familliar Fleming writing style I fell in love all over again. I was particularly partial to the accents given to Darko which makes the character seem like the kind of person I would love to know in that world and Rosa Kleb, the "Toad" of SMERSH.

I plan to go through them all eventually but before I go, I must say this. Thank you Mr Fleming for many days of happy reading. Bravo. An excelent release. Please buy this and the others if you can, Well worth your money.

    "A Brilliant Bond"
What did you like most about From Russia with Love?

A great story skilfully constructed and brilliantly written by Ian Fleming, it is superbly narrated by Toby Stephens and is guaranteed to enthrall and excite the listener. The film was one of the best of the Bond series but it pales when set beside the book which is so much better. And what a superb cast of characters - Red Grant, the chilling Irish-German psychotic killer: Darko Karim Bey, the head of Station T in Istanbul; the poisonous (in every sense!) Colonel Rosa Klebb of SMERSH; the beautiful and seductive Tatiana Romanova; Bond himself, of course - all brought brilliantly to life through the skill of Fleming's writing and Toby Stephen's excellent narration. This is outstanding and thrilling entertainment and is highly recommended.

    "Riveting."

Pure escapism, brought to life by superb narration and characterization. It's about time we had unabridged versions of Ian Fleming's masterpieces; anything less is a travesty.

"Great back story from Fleming, not in the movie"
If you could sum up From Russia with Love (with interview) in three words, what would they be?

    Classic bygone age

Who was your favorite character and why?

Bond, naturally. Such a stark contrast to the bad guys and, in particular, Grant. A really affectionate portrayal of Kerim Bey, more so than the movie.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

The Orient Express featuring more substantially than in the movie.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

    The death of Kerim.

    Any additional comments?

What I found amazing was that Bond doesn't feature for the first 11 chapters. The back story of Grant and the Russians was really fascinating and makes a lot more sense than the movie. I watched the movie after I listened to the book and it is still difficult to follow the movie at various points owing to the introduction of SPECTRE for the movie. Read the original. Enjoy the Orient Express featuring more centrally.

    "Aged Pretty Well"
What made the experience of listening to From Russia with Love the most enjoyable?

Toby Stephens is the voice of 007 and of the age.

If you’ve listened to books by Ian Fleming before, how does this one compare?

This is the best of the bunch AudioGo have released.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

The fight on the Orient Express

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

In common with the other 007 stories - there is sex and violence but little or no romance. The emotional engagement is visceral rather than sentimental - I get excited rather than moved from these stories and this one in particular.

    "Best of the Bonds"

Out of the 6 original Bond books I've read / listened to, From Russia With Love is definitely the best. Toby Stephens does a great job on the narration, utilising a whole range of accents and tones. The story cracks along at a great pace and there's even a nifty cliffhanger which I wasn't expecting!

    "Truly Capivating"

I bought 'From Russia With Love' as I love the Bond films and needed a audio book. I was a little unsure of whether I would enjoy the book as I had grown up with the movies. However I was amazed by the beautiful way the book was written, enhanced by the wonderful voice of Toby Stephens. The imagery in the book was brought to life in every sentence and was even better than the film!

Toby's narration was brilliant, you couldn't ask for a better narrator in a Ian Fleming book. His voice just melts the time away and you can't help but want to continue with listening to the audio book. The book is truly complimented by the voice of Toby, its almost as if Toby was meant to be the narrator of 'From Russia With Love'.

All in all, a brilliant audio book, and I would recommend that anyone buys this book, whether you like James Bond or not, its a brilliant book.

    "Another Excellent Toby Stephens Reading"

Toby Stephens is an excellent reader and makes for very enjoyable listening. I chose this title based on previously enjoying another title read by Toby, an excellent voice actor.

This is a classic Bond story and i've seen the film adaptation many times. The ending in the book is considerably stronger than in the film, or in any other Bond books i've read so far.

I've since found out this was due to some considerations on the part of Ian Fleming at the time, but without wishing to spoil anything for potential readers i won't risk revealing any more of an excellent plot!

"A classical Bond in an elegant style"
Would you listen to From Russia with Love again? Why?

I will return with pleasure to this audio, for the perfume of that times so well described in the book and most of all, for the incredible voice of Toby Stephens.

What did you like best about this story?

The book has some of the best ingredients for success : espionage, mystery, love story, friendship, travelling with one of the most romantic conveyance - the Orient Express

What about Toby Stephens’s performance did you like?

His outstanding performance took me in the middle of the story, mixing drama, mystery and feelings with extraordinary easiness. Listening to this audio book with all his old fashioned characters, impersonated by Toby Stephens with so much style and depth, it's a literary experience which turns into a personal one and that is why you will always want to return.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I have had many moments when I hardly stopped the device.
