Summary

What if you could go back in time and change the course of history? What if the watershed moment you could change was the JFK assassination? 11.22.63, the date that Kennedy was shot - unless....

King takes his protagonist Jake Epping, a high school English teacher from Lisbon Falls, Maine, 2011, on a fascinating journey back to 1958 - from a world of mobile phones and iPods to a new world of Elvis and JFK, of Plymouth Fury cars and Lindy Hopping, of a troubled loner named Lee Harvey Oswald and a beautiful high school librarian named Sadie Dunhill, who becomes the love of Jake's life - a life that transgresses all the normal rules of time.

With extraordinary imaginative power, King weaves the social, political and popular culture of his baby-boom American generation into a devastating exercise in escalating suspense.

Critic reviews

“This new epic from Stephen King rates among the best he’s written – no small praise for the man who wrote Carrie, It, The Stand and Under the Dome.” ( Trucking News)

Great book, brilliantly performed

I love this book anyway but the narrator does an amazing job, totally drawing you in. It's compelling and adds a whole new layer to the story. Very very highly recommended!

Craig Wasson is the best narrator I've heard yet. Lots of different accents and voices kept this long book, very interesting.

Gripping

You really want George Amberson to win all the way through. Great character portrayal and truly gripping storyline.
Not the typical Stephen king I would normally gravitate to but this novel has made me think I will try some of SK other genres.

Such a great book

I love this book, it has everything, its a book you don't want to finish.

I believe this is Stephen Kings best work, sure you can look at other all time classic such as the stand and the dome etc but my personal opinion is this is just so well written.

Narrator is excellent and you fully get into the book.

Cracking yarn.

Up there with King's best. It's a looooong book but fast paced, intricate and doesn't disappoint.
