I loved the 1984 film adaptation of Dune as a child, but I have never read the book.

I went through this audio book, Twice! In one week. What a story and to think it was published in 1965.

I really loved the way this book is written and audio production is the best I have every heard, and adds to the entertainment value.

There is a the main narrator Simon Vance who is brilliant, but the additional narrators and ambient sounds used add more colour to the sound.

Scifi may be back drop to this story, but the main drama is in the relationships and the characters. I urge non Scifi readers looking for a good book with great intertwining plots, varied characters told in a oracle like voice to listen to this story.

I enjoyed this more than Lord of the Rings, which I do like. I like a long story that is well written and this is one of the best.

Great piece of fiction that is strongly focused around the characters and their stories.
The Fantasy element of this story is not the focus, but does creep into the story as you progress.
I like the way the characters flaws are displayed and the internal conflicts that the main characters experience.
There is also not just one main character, but many, with interwove stories and plots. (Thus the trilogy)

This Fantasy Fiction story is also written from a fresh perspective that feels more real than fantasy, and all the violence, colourful language and intertwining plots make for an Gritty entertaining adventure....and there are 2 more books to follow! Can't wait to start the next book.

PS. The Narrator Steven Pacey is Brilliant. He really does a fantastic job with accents, and dramatization.
The reason I listen to fiction books, (apart from the hands free experience) is because of such narrators that add so much more to an great story.

This book covers from pre WW2 to the end of the war focusing mostly around the rise and fall of the Nazi party and it's leader with all the captured correspondence that reflect their deeds. Recorded History has never been presented this accurate.

The Fascinating part of this book is that this all facts are layed out from captured documentation and are presented chronologically in a way that make the written text interesting with a great narration in the book and by the Audio Narrator Grover Gardner that has a great intelligent sounding American voice.
I feel that the authors opinions, are balanced and reflect the feelings of any balanced human being of reason, with out being bias.

The Frightening part:
I have read/listen to many dark fiction stories with some really evil twisted characters, but the atrocities committed and discussed in this NON-FICTION book, from recorded documentation and recorded witness is truly frighting. Not just because of the deeds committed and the scale of it all, but mostly because these events really did happen. You can walk away from Fiction, but Facts remain.
This is a long book to go through and I'm not sure I would have read the pages, but the Audio was great. Long, but Great.

Thanks to You Tube I would often listed to a part in history and find related clips related for visual cues. (not that you need many)

I think every Film about WW2 with some level of accuracy must of used this book as a reference: Two films come to mind: DownFall and Valkyrie.
There are detailed parts of the Valkyrie operation in the book, which I must say was very well reflected in the movie, from the facts, now that I know them.
The Movie Downfall I believe, also accurately reflects what happened to Hitler during his last few days before his down fall. This book lists that facts of what happened in that bunker and thanks to this film I had a great idea of the mood and the character of Hitler, which was so well acted by Bruno Gan

I loved The Pillars of the Earth and put World Without End off as I could not see how that great book could be matched.
I was wrong.
World Without End keeps the PotE style of writing, but the plotting seems more heavier, more dramatic, more everything really, which some will like and some may not.
OMG, these poor character really do suffer through the story and the reader that inevitability gets attached to the characters, suffer with that agony as well.
Ken Follet may seem to be nasty with the misery that he puts his Characters (and readers) through, but do not let this put you off the book. All Metal in a forge gets stronger through fire and beating of a hammer and the characters in WWE do get stronger through their baptisms of fire.
This is a adult book with adult themes which may shock, but at the same time seem to fit the time period that this grate story is set.

World Without End is a well written period book, with awesome characters, and many many plots with in plots, woven into a classic piece of literature. Like PotE this book will be adapted for Film/TV. (I would put money on that.)

I like the way the different plots merged into the main plot of the story. This story is hard to swallow in parts, but still very well written.

An original take on the Vampire theme, that takes place in a cold dark environment with characters to match that mood.
Some parts are hard listen to because the of the sensitive nature of the crimes being committed.
I do salute the Author for being brave enough to work sensitive themes into the story and shows the reader that we do not need fictional monsters to experience Horror. We get to see the horror that man can commits,Physical and emotional, on man, woman and children as well.

The narrator was excellent and told a very good story, that was creepy in parts, but leads you on a tight, thrilling and emotional journey right to the final crescendo.

There are parts in the book that reflect on the ugly mutations that occur in society, like broken families, bulling, alcoholism, drugs, paedophilia and depression. And despite all this, there is the prospect of hope, but make no mistake this story is no sweet Twilight.

Very well narrated. You will feel tears of joy, sadness and horror through this very well written book. I really enjoyed the way the author described feelings. Very moving. Metaphorically speaking: It felt to me like the forbidden love was being punished by the war that followed. Or perhaps the separation of that Love caused the war.
My only regret is that I did not purchased the unabridged version elsewhere. Audibly only had the abridge version.

Open your self to the story and allow yourself to experience Teenage love again. I would never read such a book and now I now find myself open to reading other books out there that I'm open to because of the twilight books. (I have gone through all of them and the narrator is one of the best I have ever listen to.) I have gone through this book twice already!! Sad I know, the sickness of love, with a fictional character!!!

Even though the Twilight movie is very well casted, I find that the on screen characters did not interfere while listening to the book. The characters personalities and not their looks are what get you hooked.

Tip: If you have read Perfume (also a fantastic book) you will better understand Edwards appreciation of Bella's sent. I'm currently listening to Perfume and I have a much a better understanding of the attraction of Bella's sent to Edward.
